Will there be massive guitar shredding?

Steve
not of the same type that I've provided in the past. I went with a really simple arrangement on this one. Single tracked bass, guitar, vocals, and drums by Jolly Roger. So while there isn't the high gain tremolo picked type of shred that I typically am pigeonholed into doing, there is some fairly intense guitar work, and if I do say so myself, I'm more proud of the guitar on this song than I am of most of what I've done in the past. Like I said before, it's got a really great feel to it. Also with this song I've gotten back in touch with my love for phaser.

My song's arrangement is so minimal it makes Brian Eno and Phillip Glass jealous. (I am on an abstract minimalism kick right now.)

After a remiss week... veGetar Ianra Ge is back on the charts!
veGetar Ianra Ge's Blog wrote:I was trying to think of good ways to use the title and suddenly Anne Frank and the holocaust popped into my head *pop!* Well here we are, a song from the perspective of Anne Frank's parents. Keep in mind that I tried very hard not to focus on the negative parts of the situation, like being stuck in an apartment for years. Instead I thought, "Hey, All of the other Jews are getting sent off to 'work camp' but they're just chillin' out, safe in and sound in their secret fort." Pretty awesome if you ask me. Sure they were eventually betrayed and sent to a concentration camp whereupon they all died, but for at least a little while, I bet they felt something like this...

Also, if anyone has tried to visit my page lately for any reason and been turned because of poor functionality... i.e. nothing worked all.... you'll be pleased to know that now everything is working just dandy. <br>http://johntyree.blogspot.com

Arrangement? Is that what's minimal - I thought that related to minimal harmonic content as a reaction to total serialism. The arrangements are often complex, yeah? Or are you just thinking of Glass' solo piano works type era?

Well, a bit of both.

If there were guitar tabs for my song (which there aren't, as that would imply a guitar) they'd look like:

Code: Select all

B
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

B is the chord abbreviation, like on a lead sheet? Is that a B major or is it purposely left ambiguous?

And uh, monochordal works can be pretty tough listening. On the bright side, it's not too hard to put together a guy and guitar cover of one. Not much left hand work, you know? Maybe I'll do one, if I like your song.

Typically on a lead sheet, major is implied unless specified otherwise.

I am so in with a last-minute track that I stayed awake too long making.

Get ready to eat spaghetti, because your brain won't know what else to do after it's done listening to this.

I really need to get to bed.

I think that is the single greatest tab I have EVER seen. I think I will now retire my guitar since there is no room left for anymore inspiration.

yeah, that sounds about right in this case - on most mixes i bury the vocals, so i guess i don't notice as much normally. also, any time i have alot of bass or i'm playing really loud in the lower range of the guitar it sounds clipped and/or muddy as hell through these speakers. i went back and forth to the multitrack a bunch with several older projects, thinking my tracks had either peaked during recording or gotten clipped during mixdown - before realizing i was an idiot.

I finally finished my new record and can focus some energy on SF again. This one is a bit lame...written and recorded in a few hours and it shows. and it was supposed to be a pop song about a serial killer but the vague lyrics actually make it seem like it's about...eh...never mind. I shouldn't have hit the send button, but its out there now. enjoy

Ben Krieger is back!!!!!!

I always wondered when and how you would follow up Cable Beach, which I still listen to at least once a week. And is still my favorite song fight song of all time.

I'm very excited to hear the new stuff!

So I was reading this thread and thought I'd better go check out "Cable Beach". Damn.

If this guy's in, I think we're all dead in the water. That is some frickin' fine work, there. Double damn.

I swear, swear, SWEAR this one is nothing to write home about...I need to find my groove again. I did actually get half a rock opera done for "Gray Rainbow" but never finished it. The overture is nest, though.
