Hmmm ...

Just out of curiosity (to any SF'ers reading this), who all votes for themselves in fights? I've been wondering this for a while (since I always kind of assumed it wasn't done).

ps - so if what you say is true, Quoons - we actually got the same amount of votes (from other songfighters). I guess there was no reason for either of us to gloat after all!

I do sometimes. Often, by the time I vote, the shine's already off the apple for me. I voted for my own "Walking the Border," but I'm pretty sure I didn't vote for my "Elegy for Industry," "Love Me a Little Bit More," or my "We Keep Them Alive."

Used to vote for myself every week.

When it was one vote per fight I voted for myself only if Melvin wasn't in it. Now that I can vote for all the good ones then I vote for myself all the time. :D
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style. :D

SO the only person who's ever been better than you is Melvin?

Under the new system I vote for myself when I think I'm in the top tier. I did not vote for myself very often under the single vote system.

I vote for myself if after listening to all the other songs, I still think mine is the best/among the best.

To date, I think I've only voted for my own song once.

I have never voted for myself. Coming up on 70 fights as Paco, and over a dozen as whoever, still no votage. I'll be glad to the day I have the best song but man, what a slow week that'd have to be.

Yeah - same here.

I don't vote for you either.

Well, maybe sometimes....

I do always vote for myself though in the multi-vote world. If it wasn't something I'd vote for - I wouldn't enter it. Though I must admit that my Green 11 only just scrapped in. It is one of the very few entries I have put in that I didn't think was the greatest song ever written the moment I finished it.

Me either. I think that voting for yourself is pretentious. But posting that you don't ever vote for yourself is also pretentious. So everyone here is pretentious.

I vote for myself if I like my song enough. It's all very subjective anyway, so what the heck. So far there's been one song that I submitted that I didn't vote for. I'm sure you can figure out which one that was if you check the archives. I'm not planning to submit another song that I don't like, so it's likely I'll be voting for all songs I'm going to be submitting in the future. Unless I change my mind, of course.

Is it? I was just answering a question. Although I have pointed it out in the past. However, I might argue that bragging that you have the best song in the world may be a bit more pretentious. Or I might not. When I write the best song in the world, we'll just have to see. :)

P.S. - I would be thrilled if I wrote something that won. But, since I'm close, I am secretly hoping to break a certain record around here. Doesn't mean I'll try and write crappy songs. Rather, just stick to tried and true methods and let everything fall into place naturally.

I voted for myself. Once. So that means 9 of my votes were real and 1 was a lie. Don't stone me for doing something obvious. It's not cheating. I mean who do you think Obama voted for. Wait... can a presidential nominee vote at all? Let's argue about that instead.

Nah, it's not cheating. Unless you somehow multi-vote. And yes, presidential nominees vote. Most elections usually feature a photo-op of the candidate coming out of the voting both early in the morning or stuffing a ballot in a box.

Sure, burst my little bubble. :)

I guess I just assumed that everyone voted for their own songs. I learnded something today.

I was going to say this on a daily roll call or something, but now I see everyone's talking about it here. Last fall when I started I always voted for my own song along with all the good ones. With Green Eleven I've graduated to not voting for myself. Yay upgrade!

Sometimes, I listen to the other songs in the fight, and I think, "Boy, I really suck" and I don't vote for myself. Sometimes I feel like I'm holding my own against the rest of you and I do.

That means that Elaine's most excellent Green Eleven and my Green Eleven got exactly the same number of non-self votes. I didn't need to feel better about myself, but I do anyway.

I don't vote for myself. I like to see what others think. I'd feel weird if I beat someone by 1 vote, and I voted for myself.
