Thinkin' bout the old days
Drinkin' Boone's Farm and dropping purple haze.
Tie dying t-shirts and buying weed by the lid
Promoting peace and love just like Ghandi did.

Re: Thinkin' about the Next Fight
I can go with this. Born in the 80's with plenty of horrible memories from the 90's to make a song out of. Rollerblades at the roller rink! Woooo!

I'm thinkin' about the folkiest folk song this old folker has ever written (this past sentence written with apologies to Paul Westerberg).

Someone should make a country song... like a GOOD country song... not a POP song... you know... the good ol' days before yer dog died... yer woman left you... drinkin' some good ol' corn whiskey.

Re: Thinkin' about the Next Fight
I think if I added slide guitar to what I've made so far it'd be just about the most...special song you've ever heard of. But that doesn't mean I won't try it. So far I'm going with an 8-bit nintendo feel. That could change.

Man, I've already got one written for this. I've never done G&G, but I feel like this song just begs for a one-take wonder. Any G&G advice from you lo-fi pros?

Re: Thinkin' about the Next Fight
Nice title. I don't have an idea yet, but I'd like to be in this.

The initial letter of about should definitely be capitalized. We have had much less important words capitalized in the titles here.

GnG is not necessarily lo-fi.Reïst wrote:Man, I've already got one written for this. I've never done G&G, but I feel like this song just begs for a one-take wonder. Any G&G advice from you lo-fi pros?

Excellent point, Ross.
I, for instance, have an ongoing love affair with lo-fi, but G&G has never particularly piqued my interest.

Re: Thinkin' about the Next Fight
Man, I have a really cool riff but I'm afraid that I might be subconsciously ripping something off... though I don't know what.
As for G&G: if you have to do G&G, record it well. It also helps your chances if you can make it stand out somehow (perhaps with a quick tempo or vocal hook).

If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Hey, that's better than consciously ripping something off!

Hmmm... In the old days:
There weren't so many cops,
I didn't have cavities,
I made more money then I do now,
I lived with my parents,
Hey! I'm only 30. I don't have any old days yet. Ooooh yeahhh. Back when I was twenty.
I'm not qualified to yearn for yesteryear, you've got to be 45+ for that, I'm sorry.

Re:
Eh. I'm only 33, but that's not going to stop me from thinking about the old days. Of course, that means I was a kid in the 80's...which was just downright frightening. I think there's a song in that, but I just haven't found it yet. I've got a few lines, but nothing is connecting yet.IndiAdamJones wrote:Hey! I'm only 30. I don't have any old days yet. Ooooh yeahhh. This is the first time I've written endless lyrics playing my acoustic with no chorus...in a long time. It must mean something, but I don't know what.
