Title inspired by the new Christina Aguilera video? (You won't see it on TV.)

Not sure as yet, but my guess is it'll be on the dirty side.

Pylon writes a VW commercial with the Rev Horton Heat channeling Bob Dylan while singing lyrics written by Jim Morrison.

If I get it finished, it'll be what the youngsters call a "dance song."

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
When I actually think about this song, in my head it's playing to the tune and melody of Desmond Dekker's "You can get it if you really want." If I'm gonna contend in this one, that's the style I'll do it in.

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
Working on something, but it's that blues song that was everybody's first idea for the song, and then they came up with something better. So if I don't submit it, it'll be because I don't want to tarnish my reputation as... uhh, forget it...
Actually, I kinda wore out my voice trying to sing it in A, and now that I'm trying to do it in G, it still sounds too raspy...

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
It's coming along. It was supposd to be a dance song, but maybe it's disco, I can't always tell the difference. The lyrics (now posted) are not well-matched to either genre. I still have to add vocals, but I don't have a dance-song voice. The track will therefore be a strange hybrid.

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
My first idea was actually something singer-songwriter-y, and now that I think about it, Ross has actually already written that song. I only write blues songs if I make an actual effort to do so, and I've only done that once.king_arthur wrote:Working on something, but it's that blues song that was everybody's first idea for the song
Anyway, I'm now in with my second idea. It's not singer-songwriter-y, it's not bluesy, it's not dancey, it's not disco-y. Imagine that.

I'd prefer you it to the tune and melody of Desmond Dekker's "Israelites".

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
In it - but not to win it.
I have officially gone all live tracks this week, no programming in the mix (not even effects beyond some chorus and reverb). Since I do not own drums, this means there are no drums :'( but gosh I love my new Danelectro U2 on clean settings.
Now it's time to eat the dinner I should have eaten hours ago.

Yes yes y'all. I'm back. ... apologizing in advance.
You don't even remember me. Several years ago I used to post as Chucky, enter as Extra Credit. We've entered as Apply Liberally to Inside of Mouth (maybe, or that might have only been me, but anyways..)
Anyways: our band is called Bad Catholic Schoolgirls.
A little set up I guess:
I'm Awesome F. Gorgeous, he's Special-T. We're some sort of rap-group, I guess.
I demand you all listen to our shit: http://www.myspace.com/badcatholicschoolgirls/
because this is what we do so it'd be cool if people hear it.
We've been lurkin all your shit for years.
Anyways, stoked to be 'back in the game', can't wait to hear the other entries.

In. I'd edit the ending to make the song shorter, but I'm out of time. (I have a day job.)
Best enjoyed with strobe lights.

Re: What kind of song are you writing?
Country Martyrs is a kick-ass band name.
Longfellow Street is in. We're from Jacksonville, FL, a five-piece sort of kinda alt-country-rock-jazz-swing band. We do one of the songs I wrote for Songfight a long time ago, called "I'm With Steve Now", which evolved nicely from music-dork-and-friend-in-front-of-computer-with-guitar into a jazz-blues number with pedal steel and striding bass. For this one, Mallory and I were looking for something fun to do to kill an afternoon. Hey, look! Awesome title on Songfight! Longfellow Street's been together for almost two years, but Mal and I had never written a song together, so here you go. Was freakin' fun to make up. Cody came over and did drums the next day, but we never could get either of our other guitar players to do a lead bit, so you get me banging away on the glockenspiel instead. We did the song at Jam Night the next evening, went over well. Hope y'all dig it.
Peace,
Trey
