The Sting Cycle (I'm Eating A Wasp (part 1) prefight)

Post by fluffy »

Next title: I'm Eating A Wasp (part 1)
Due: Saturday, 12/18/10 9:59 AM Pacific Time
Optional challenge: don't work ahead

It's the "part 1" that really gets me.

Sting for your supper!

For this mission, should I decide to accept it, I am situated geographically and inspirationally between Hayden Mugford and the unfortunate Stephen Duckett. I guess that means I worked ahead. . .

Any guesses what the optional challenge is about? I guess we've been having some people working on music before the titles are posted, is that it?

I think the implication is that there may or may not be additional parts to the title and they don't want people writing the entire rock opera up-front.

I'll give it pretty good odds of happening, I know it was my first thought.

Then why is it optional? That implies it is also an option to work ahead.

Hey -- For our file names, do we omit the parentheses? -- i.e. is it
yourbandname_ieawp1.mp3
or
yourbandname_ieaw(p1).mp3
?

because i seem to have lost my entire GoM entry and will need to redo that on my one day off this week, i was unable to turn this song into the full funk anthem it deserves, so you get the bad boys unplugged version... its only like 2 mins so you wont have to hurt your ears for that long.

I just wanted to let you know that "eating a wasp" and "fixing a hole" fit the same melodies.

My entry for this fight is almost ready. It consists, in part, of a narrator reading a Dec 7 news story about someone finding a wasp in a Jaffa cake.

I bet you can't guess what key it's in!

This is juxtaposed against the audio of an encounter between bureaucrat Stephen Duckett and some members of the media, now available on YouTube, in which Mr. Duckett avoids questions with the repeated response "I'm eating my cookie." (Mr. Duckett lost his job over the incident.)

There are various other arty goings-on involving a detuned electric guitar, a pair of drumsticks, a flat-topped microphone, and some keyboard samples. I've commented on this kind of music many times, so I'm putting my money -- uh, where my mouth is.

(edit 2010-12-16) In.

May I suggest American Gothic with a giant wasp impaled on the pitchfork?
