What's wrong with being fat or ignorant?

As long as I have google and utube nothing will be a mystery to me..so at any point and time I accept being ignorant because it can be undone, thus so with being fat.

Sorry your solutions to being a valid person are not so easily obtained.

I have to go google common french words to use in my song now..all will be settled on the battle field.
This post is looking good, I can't wait to read the final version.

Good luck researching common French words. You might also research some common English phrases like point in time while you're at it. I wouldn't bring that up usually but as you didn't complete your proofreading I thought I'd lend a hand.

I've found that not only is it really hard to write something that is funny, but I'm also not very good at it. So I started out with this grand idea of a giant space adventure, and it turned into him dying of asphyxiation in the second verse... I still think it's hilarious, but I also have very bad taste.

When it comes to humor, I'm a harsh critic of both myself and others. At least, in comparison to some. I'm often shown youtube videos where I think to myself 'I'm just not getting why everyone else is laughing.' I think being funny is hard and am a fan of classic humor like Looney Tunes. (then again, I'm also a big fan of Invader Zim and Robot Chicken)

a few more thoughts from a shamelessly random mind...

flight&granddesign -I like it's, it got a fun driving rhythm and it's a bit catchy. good job.

dejectedmotives- I can dig it, got a cool vibe to it, the distoration on the vocals was strange, but works for the song, I would have liked some parts to be a bit more clear as you could not make out all of the words being said but I like the treatment on the chrous with the distortion, works well for my disotred mind. Either way, I think vibe is very trippy and cool. Nice.

torrentz- an interesting head banger for sure. beat is on point, vocals styling are very nice, lyrics flow clear and bright. Interesting chorus, marries nicely with the song as a complete work. Thumbs up on this end. A fav.

daring front - made me an instant fan! love the funky vibe, smooth warm vocals gracing my sweet ear drums, melting me like a bar of chocolate in the summer sun (you know us headstrong black chicks roll like that ;p... but seriously couldn't get enough. I know for sure that's how it should be done. Excellent harmonies, love the lyrics made me want to learn them. Downloaded and Faved! thank you.

ebola-cide - a bit dark in there huh? Lovely we have music to grab us and drag us back to the surface. It's got this Eminem vibe to it minus the blinding anger, so I like it. The story runs and wraps smoothly around the theme, then you have this melodic backdrop, love those synths, reminds me of pouring rain falling on rose petals onto plush green grass..so sweetly sad. You got me. Great job.

I generally groan when a fight this big comes along, but I enjoyed all of the variety in here, and there are some very nice songs, to boot. I listened four times, and offer these simple comments. Ask for clarification or whatever, if you'd like.

AG Beats, Viktor Walters, and Nate C - I dunno. The first time I heard this, I didn't care for it. The second, I did, hearing things I hadn't heard the first time. Now on fourth listen I don't do either. I like the music, and the story is followable even if I don't like the characters, but the delivery is too stiff. Not a complete failure of an experiment though.

Anomaly Jonez - The groove is good, if the guitar sound is a bit bothersome. I'd like to hear the song do something more than just offer a couple of breakdowns. Nothing wrong with a bridge! But the real story here is the singing. A convincing delivery but, coming from a non-singer, I'd like to hear more variation in the delivery. Too many slinky sliding notes. How 'bout a little range, going up once or twice for some goosebumps? The backing vocals are nice but need to sound more distinct, not like the same voice. Try EQ'ing and reveberizing. Nice entry, though.

AntBut - Moody and sounds like the Carpenters meets the Broken Bells. This could be used in a film while some lonely, unshaven man cleans up getting ready to commit some form of dignified suicide. I like the instrumentation, nicely balaced in the mix. Wierd, though, that at the end I didn't feel like it was quite over when it ended. Plenty long. Nicely done all around.

Bad Boys at Bat Mitzvahs - Morrisey with a head cold doing country, I think. I like this tune and it's mood. A bit sloppy and loose, it manages to hang on to itself and not fall aprt. I wish you had asked for lead work earlier, I'd love to have added some scruffy leads to this, it's right up my alley, I dare say. No complaints here about the structure, even if it lacks 'proper' sections. I like how it strolls off, not looking back.

Berkeley Social Scene - Nice song to come home from work and...kidding! Gee, who's that singing with Martin? Some new guy? Glen get fired? Anyway, I like the vocal sounding guitars and straight ahead bass line. The song sounds great and moves at a comfy tempo. Sysyphus storyline, it seems. This is pleasing to listen to and fits in nicely with your catalog, if not the top selling single from the greatest hits package.

bgm - Wonderful melodies. Darkish, but not gloomy, soothing but not gushy. Wonderful instrumentation, if the electric is almost too bright. Ha! Half a number less on the tone knob = perfect. Silly. I like the vocal work, well balanced and delivered. Anyway, a very mature, quietly confident song. Sounds like it's always been around, but not old or too familiar. Excellent and should fare well in voting.

Billy and the Psychotics - Hmm. What's missing here? Denise's purring vocals? Nope. Rubbery bass? It's there. Oh yeah! ME! (My fault, I know) Good sex and car tune, as it should be. Guitars could be a bit more aggressive, mix-wise, their parts are fine, but don't grab you by the sack like I'd like. Who doesn't like some sack grab, ya know? Good tune, wish I had played on it, not that I'm needed though.

Daring Front - Heh. I'm familiar enough with your material to recognize it when I hear it, without looking at who's playing. Late night, urban music, if I haven't said it before. I'm surprised this ended when it did, it could easily go on longer without wearing out its welcome. I like the transition into the chorus and the keyboard work best. Nice tune, easy going but not too soft.

deetak - What a nice song. Your songs are always full of emotion and this one is wonderful. Bittersweet. The guitar and string accompaniment are well done and fit together nicely. Good playing, to boot. But the vocal is the highlight, not overdone, which would be silly, but a direct and memorable melody and storyline. Beautiful song and should fare well, if not win.

Dejected Motives - I like the vocal treatment, to a point. I keep waitng for a 'real' voice to bust though and rap or better yet, actually sing. But sadly, it doesn't arrive. I also get tired of the descending progression. I mean, the lighter in hand groove of it works, but gets old. That aside, the mix is good and all the patches/sounds are good. But too long and repetitive.

Ebola-Cide - The story flows well, and is followable. The somber tone of the music supports the story well and is well constructed. The vocal cadence feels a bit samey thoughout and makes me wonder if another voice or bit of melody might not help break up the overall rhythm of it, as it starts to feel too repetitive and easy to lose focus on. Still, a solid production well put together.

EggNogAdam - Good demo or scratchpad. The laidback vibe and flow is cool and kind of groovey, just feels undercooked. I like the vocals but with more time and some supporting ones as well, this'd be a bigger party or to go to.No, bigger isn't always better, but here, I think it would be. I know you're a busy dad, so I guess you can be excused. For now!

The Flight and the Grand Design - I like the synth and guitar poppiness of this. Catchy, if not overly infectious. Good driving rhythm. I like the progressions and changes, especially when and where they show up. I'd like to hear overlapping layered vocals during the chorus sections but appreciate the suporting vocals throughout. Pretty tight with just enough scruff to keep it real. Good fun.

hillbilly - The new guitar sounds very good. Disregarding recording issues, this is a good tune that bums me out that it doesn't keep going and be a more complete song. Sure, a song can be a minute long, but this promises to be more and quits. Too bad, I liked where it was going. On one hand it makes it more poignant, but could still have been more fully realized. Keep at it, I like when you submit songs, they are very distinctively yours.

Hostess Mostess - This makes me think of Dr. Dog at times. Regardless, it's such a strong structure and almost classical music like at times as well. It could be danced to both at the prom and at the ball. The mix is interesting as it swells and fades, lacking a big bottom end which would support some of the niceties on top much better. Thanks for submitting such good writing, though.

Jeffrey Davis - I like this very much. Silly, but innocent. Could be compared to Ween, I guess, but I like it for what it is. Doesn't overstay it's welcome, either.

Juliet's Happy Dagger - I like the chorus part with the pick slide noise and higher vocals best. It threatens to fall apart and feels like broad, open space after the straight ahead drive of the bass line verses, but that's what makes it cool. Gotta say "the best" rhyme irks, but forgivable. Hey, I've done much worse, that's for sure! The chimey guitars are nice as well. Good tune, keep this collaboration going, please.

King Arthur - Boy, you do compress, huh? Anyway, I like the story here, well told. Hooky bass line at times, great guitar riffage and nice to hear. I think your voice sounds fine, depsite recent troubles you've had. Nice delivery in that department. It's an easy going tune with nice bite thanks to the voice and guitar. Well done.

King Ginger - I like the sci-fi angle. Kind of lite delivery for the horror that unfolds, but why not? The voice is boxy sounding and could be clearer, enabling an easier listen. The backing track is fine, if less than thrilling. I like the ending, where you repeat the lines over and over, best. Sounds DEVO-esque at times. Sorry if that's an insult to you, but it's not meant as one. Cleaned up and packing better dynamics, this would be stronger, but some good ideas.

MC Who Izzy
- I like the build at the start, suspenseful. But what happened? The voice is a hundred miles away! Maybe a simple mixing issue, but I hope it's not because you were shy or something. Put that voice up, front and center.

Mind Map That - Cute, almost too much so. It avoids being a kids tune by some of the lyrics, but might be too cutesy for the grown-ups. Regardless, a unique angle and big points for that. I like the simple instrumentation, easy and gentle, and the mix is nice with the voice up clear and understandable. I like the "his last few days are his first few days" line and the good ending, with the "and die" line. Good work, all in all.

The NATIONAL FRONTBOTTOM - Ha! Well, no hiding who this. Dumb, but thoroughly enjoyable story complete with the surprise ending: instead of lamenting the butt rape-age, it's celebrated as a further fuck you to Billy! HA! And the doorball and Sam Kinison sounds are great. That whole section is great! Good, nasty fun!

The Notorious F.A.P. - Silly, but the delivery sounds a little bit read off of the paper. I can't understand the pitch altered voices, but like the darkness of the chorus, I guess it is. Ha! I don't undertand the snickers reference, but it is indeed funny. I like this more than I should, but it is indeed stupid. But I'm not above stupid, so I guess it's ok.

Odoriferous Valley - This is me with Glen from Berkely Social Scene, when he visited me from California during a business trip. All done in a couple of hours. The wonderful Ken provided drums via e-mail and played them great, saving us all from my drum programming or hand drums on the keyboard. Big thanks, Ken! Glen did most of the writing, really, I kind of followed his lead and nudged things around a bit. I added bass and the end guitars when he was gone. His lead is loopy and fantastic and I prefer his vocals to mine. Definitely directions I wouldn't take on my own, a great exerience to work with him (them).

Paco del Stinko - I got halfway though this and realized it sounded kind of like a Sublime song. Eh. The Spanish voice in the middle came through my amp when the octave fuzz was on, and lined up pefectly with the song so I kept it. No idea what he's saying, translations welcome! Vaguely about a guy in prison, the bridge is directed towrds a boastful new member entering this week's fight.

Planets and Bubble Pipe Media
- I love the 80's guitars. Sorry if you don't hear them that way, but c'mon! They're great, regardless. Wonderfully structured and arranged, good playing. The direct, no bullshit beat drives well and is a good fit. Nice synthwork as well, not so 80's! The lead voice is vey nice but I'd like to hear some vocal support work as well, maybe harmony on specific lines, counterpoint at others. A pleasant voice, for sure, just needs some help here and there. Good song all around, great arrangement. Keep it up!

Sep - Well, that's dissonant, isn't it? Sometimes stuff like this works, other times, no. I'd say this is one of the other times. It lacks the feeling of fun that kooky, who cares experiments that succed often pull off. I like how it starts off here and ends over there, but it's muddled and noisy, somewhat aimless. Try again.

styop quoons - More pleasant soundtrack tuneage. Could almost be a Fluffy out-take but the lead voice sounds almost exactly like a guy that sang for a band called the Darkside in the late 80's. NOT the Darkness and all that falsetto stuff, no. Anyway, this has a nice gentle vibe to it. Its probably too long for general SongFight! folks and I think that true, especially in a fight of this size. It has a good build at the end, but too long in coming, regardless of length of fight or whatever. Good when it double times at the end though, and if it were me, I'd have added too much stuff there!

SYNFONYC - What is that loop, Little River Band or something? I can't place it. Anyway, do Bob Dylan if you like, but please take him out of the shoebox, first. I'd like a big beat to come in or have the song take off on a bizzaro flight of strings or something instead of repeating over and over. The car crash is the right idea, I suppose, but perhaps something like that, musically, in the middle or something.

Torrentz
- I like the beat, threatening and tough. The vocals are pretty well delivered and nice to hear are not all in the same meter. And the musical chorus is a big plus. Just what seems to be missing from rap type music around here quite often. Well produced and arranged, this remains interesting due to both the more musical sections and the different voices and their different deliveries, also the perspectives of the various narrators. Good work and doesn't overstay its welcome.

The Yyarrell Brothers Band - I ilke this. Nice and garagey, even without the Brady Bunch organ. The thick riff works well and the distorted vocals are a good fit. Colored striped pants, afros, oil patterns on an overhead projector...right on! Good fun and I like the mood presented here. Well played and produced. Keep'em coming.

Thanks! It was definitely meant to be 80s. I'm not a big fan of 80s pop and asked a bunch of friends of mine to come over and let me produce them so I can perhaps warm up to it more (it's how I learned to like rap). We tried to make the synth 80s, but I think it came off a bit modern. I wanted to do more with the vocals, but we ran out of time. I suspect I will make a revision with a different friend singing in a much more 80s new wave style.

Thank's! Not an insult at all. 80's geek rock is one of my favorite listening pleasures. I hear what you're talking about with the vocals, i wish i could do better but i'm recording vox through an internal laptop mic. 3:-/

head cold... yeah, i thought that too. i just moved and have yet to fully decipher the acoustics of my new office. i plan on perhaps trying to fit a chorus in there somewhere, and when i do you will recieve a file(s) to cut a face melter.

The loop is just something I made up a while ago. It fit somewhat for the chorus so I used it. I would also like for there to big flurry of strings but my skills do not allow for such things yet, unfortunately. Thanks for the input.

Stinko--- Thank you for the kind words. There were two more verses (As the family held hands the choir sang- may the circle be unbroken.) Then the last verse as the choir sang, We cried, dad we,ll be ok. My father just died, thats what happened, man the church was full. I just didnt enter it all over such a shitty recording. but thanks anyway
