Crack in the Wall

Crack in the Wall - by The Cow Exchange

VERSE
Started out as a hairline
But it grew until it split
Thought my shelter was all airtight
'Til the drywall laid a brick
It came and it saw
And it dropped me a bomb
And it’s showing no calm or closure

CHORUS
But I’ll wipe it again
Every rear ends
The crack in the wall where the poop comes from. (X2)
But I’ll wipe it again
Every rear ends
The crack in the wall where the poop comes from. (X2)
I don't know what normal's supposed to smell like

VERSE
Well I built me a poop man
And I think I'll call him Steve
Hit the fan, and the backsplash
Grew a fecal family
It's filling this house
And I can't flush it out
Got a date
With Meatloaf's daughter

(repeat chorus with ambience)
(repeat chorus)

As soon as I walked in the room I could feel it
Something just wasn't the way it should be
And I knew right away I would say I could heal it
But making things better just isn't like me

There's a crack in the wall and I tried to conceal it
But you can still feel it with a brush of your hand
And someday when the paint peels away to reveal it
Will I fix it or cover it over again

And will it be just like the last time
When the bridges burned
And will it be just like the next time
Will I ever learn

Maybe this time

Maybe this time.

Crack in the Wall
by Lichen Throat
for Scott Hutchison

I bought a house in Edinburgh
In the shadow of the Forth Road Bridge.
Got venetian blinds in a shade of purple,
New rugs, and a second-hand fridge.
Slopped tar on the roof to fix the leaks,
And I set new tiles in the hall.
But the one thing that I never could fix
Was a great big crack in the wall.
The crack in the wall
Let in cold Scottish wind.
I plastered it up in the fall,
But it soon cracked through again.

I asked girls over to waltz on the floor,
And then we’d wrestle in the dark.
When each one left, I cried and swore
I’d never repeat the same arc.
Then I’d lie, awake and alone,
And shiver all through the night.
I’d be drenched in sweat, but chilled to the bone
By the hour of the first morning light.
The crack in the wall
Let in cold Scottish wind.
When I got my invitation to the ball,
I still felt like I was a pumpkin.

Let’s not talk about blood and arms,
Or oil slicks out in the bay.
I’m just here trying to keep myself warm;
I’d rather sing the blues than the greys.

My calendar said that spring was here,
But I still felt winter’s chill.
The grey, grey skies never seemed to clear,
And the wind’s howls grew more shrill.
Is there a land, across the sea,
Where I could lie warm in the sun,
Or sit beneath a leafy tree,
And never feel a need to run?
The crack in the wall
Let in cold Scottish wind.
Can I escape from it all,
Or is this just the end?

Crack in the Wall - Tim Hinkle

Sunlight slips in through a crack in the wall
Shadows are pushed to the side
But the rays don’t go deep in the darkness to trawl
And from most will an eidolon hide

Walk through my garden of things that used to be
Retreat from the present slight
Today is blinding, my vision melts away
In the darkness my ghosts hold me tight

Glimpsed you today through a crack in the wall
Could it be a trick of the light?
I divine you inside with me, your scent recall
And I speak with you most every night

I can remember every way things ever were
But which is now? The present moment’s so absurd

Crack in the Wall
Pigfarmer Jr

I see a fool speaking in tongues
He's a snake in the grass
He won't give a damn
Riling up his enemies
But there's one thing I know
The curtain is ripped
He's tearing it down
Exposing the facade

Looking through the crack in the wall
Looking through the crack in the wall
Can't believe the shit I see
Right here in front of me
Looking through the crack in the wall

They said he couldn't win
He was sure to fail
He couldn't act the part
They said he was insane
But he's standing right there
And life is moving on
It doesn't matter, you see?
They are all the same

Looking through the crack in the wall
Looking through the crack in the wall
Can't believe the shit I see
Right here in front of me
Looking through the crack in the wall

Looking through the crack in the wall
Looking through the crack in the wall
Can't believe the shit I see
Right here in front of me
Looking through the crack in the wall
