Lost Weekend

Post by mrbeany »

Mr. Beany's Bitty Band

What if our ship crashes on an island and we lose our minds?
What if our ship crashes on an island and we go insane?
Would we build smoke, would smoke kill us, could we keep the smoke at bay?

What if our ship crashes and we have to kill a polar bear?
What if our ship crashes and we failed to pack our underwear?
Would we wear skin, could we skin him, could we sleep in polar bear?

What if our ship crashes and we all start seeing things not real.
What if this includes a kitchen stocked with pudding, cans and veal.
Would we eat it, would it eat us, could we eat not knowing what?

What if our ship crashes and we find something we have to push.
Could we keep going if all we could do was to push the thing?
Would we not, how could we not eventually stop the thing?

How we would long for the time when we spent a weekend dreaming
How we would long for the time when we were lost in each other.
Our lost weekend, our weekend lost, the time we were truly found.

What if our ship crashes and we find we are already dead?
What if our spirits roam the island that we all once hated?
Would we stay there, could we go home, would we never know of peace?

Background: This song is part of a concept album I'm working on. Abstractly, it's an art album about copyright... in the guise of hymn filk. The premise is a lonely space traveler thinks about what might be in store for the colony ship when they get there, but due to copyright restrictions only music made before 1926 is available on-board. So, he combines the two. It will be released with full sheet music and a Creative Commons Attribution license.

Lost Weekend
by heine

Walking the empty streets at night
Feeling that something's just ain't right

It was a lost weekend
We couldn't get it back
It was a lost weekend
Still occupying my head

Still walking down this road I know
Still searching for a stone to throw

It was a lost weekend
We couldn't get it back
It was a lost weekend
Still occupying my head

I'm coming home...

Nick M. Soma - Lost Weekend

Who will be your little puppy
Once the clouds are turning black?
Who will wake you in the morning
When the spider's coming back?

No intention, no deceiving
Just believing this is true
I own each and every crystal
A believer, through and through

I was lost in the traces and lines
You so lovingly sent to me yesterday afternoon
Trying to find out the rhyme
That I need to complete this here song so I'll get well soon

When everything's broken
I'll take you on and on
Sentences unspoken
I'll be your black cat bone

I will be your last one standing
You can call me Sphenodon
I will hide out in a cavern
Chewing bugs while you are gone

I was left in the palace of time
That you built in a hurry, almost like an afterthought
Trying to find out what mind
I must be in to see all the lies that amount to nought

When everything's broken
I'll take you on and on
Sentences unspoken
I'll be your black cat bone
And someday we'll be friends
I know someday you'll care
You'll be my lost weekend
I'll be your polar bear

Leslie was a rat in a maze
Until she got away she was part of the craze
But I'm happy with that
Some people have their own ways
I don't know what else to say, I guess it's only a phase
And so I'll take off my hat

I'll be lost in the traces and lines
You'll so lovingly send to me once in the aftermath
Trying to find out the time
That I need to continue this dark and distorted path

When everything's broken
I'll take you on and on
Sentences unspoken
I'll be your black cat bone
And someday we'll be friends
I know someday you'll care
You'll be my lost weekend
I'll be your polar bear

Lost Weekend by The Armageddon Machines

Lyrics by Johnny Cashpoint.
Vocals by Niveous.
Instrumentation by Heuristics Inc.

Lost weekend, the weekend lost
To the week haze once again,
Just too weak to face the pace
Five days’ grace, it hibernates

Lost ... to the 5 day sprawl
Lost ... in the 5 day crawl
Week ends ... it’s beautiful,
Bland, like a missed cell call ...

CHORUS:
This is what we do
So we get to do
what we *want* to do,
Never what we *do*
Lost weekend

Lost weekend, The weekend lost
Always loses, hides the bruises
Under suits and collared shirts
Front to back, ties up what works

Lost ... 'til the week days fall
Lost ... in this bloodless brawl
Banging head on a beige wall
That's at least five metres tall

CHORUS

5 days fast, two few of joy
Goes too fast, we must enjoy
Like a Backwards 5 2 diet
Gorge yourself or you’ll destroy it

Feeling weak, Drug-dealer’s phone
Has been giving the same dead tone
As it has been doing since
Back in Two Thousand and Six

CHORUS
