It's small, it's light
It doesn't light up at night
Doesn't need juice, doesn't come with a plug
Doesn't need an amp so it's not hard to lug
And when the city starts baking on a hot summer day
I take it down to the river and I sit down and play
My guitar, hey hey hey
That's how I beat the heat
I don't need amps and I don't need joules
I got current from the stream and the water's cool
Some people say I'm crazy but I ain't no fool
Playing my guitar don't burn much fuel
Sometimes, some days
I think I might walk away
Turn off the A/C and go for a stroll
Head on down to a swimming hole
Take a big straw hat and some lemonade
And play guitar in the cool green shade
That's how I beat the heat.
