Affordable stands for small desktop monitor speakers?

So I just set up my Fostex PM0.4d speakers and am very happy to have a more compact setup than I had with my Event 20/20ps. However, I'd like to get some kind of stands so that I can at least angle my new monitors up a bit to point at my head. Looking at the usual sites I only so far see some very expensive seeming options (relative to the $200 I paid for the new speakers), such as:

$90: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ISOL8R130
$150: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MS80USS

Broadening my search to sites other than Musician's Fried/Sweetwater/etc. I see these on Amazon for a much more reasonable look price of $34:

http://www.amazon.com/Audioengine-Deskt ... B005STCILC

Does anybody here have any experience with these kinds of products and if so any recommendations?

Ikea actually makes some pretty good adjustable speaker stands, sometimes, although it doesn't look like there are any listed in their catalog at the moment. I don't have my Fostexes on a stand of any sort (I have them sitting on some acoustic foam on a ledge in my office that just happens to put them at my ear level) but if I needed to adjust the height I'd probably just get some PVC tubing and some small squares/circles of MDF, drill out the MDF such that the PVC fits snugly, and fill the PVC with sand or buckwheat or something (and cap the PVC of course).
