Today's Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend is the Akai Professional Tom Cat analog drum machine for $99, normally $199. Seems pretty cool from the demos I watched. I've already got a Korg volca beats but I'm tempted by the Tom Cat. I've been feeling not super thrilled with the beats's sounds ultimately.

That little drum machine tempted me as well. Did anyone buy it?

Guitar Center has 40% off some entry level BLUE mics, which means you save $80 off a $200 mic. This would be a great entry into condenser mics if you don't have one or need a few more: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Blue-Essent ... =4GOA6DJBC

Sweetwater has a bunch of Black Friday deals up all this week and through the weekend. Today a discount on Earthquaker Devices guitar pedals caught my eye. I haven't tried or bought any of their pedals yet but I have watched many demos on YouTube and they seem like pretty quality, fun stuff, all made in the good ol' US of A. They have normal stuff like the Palisades overdrive and more experimental stuff like the Organizer and the Bit Commander. Check 'em out:

Oh man, their stuff is great. I have four of their pedals. Can't go wrong, they do gonzo and traditional exceptionally well. Grab'em up!

The discounts are pretty large, too: $120 off, $110 off, and $200 off. If I ever really recorded much anymore and actually wanted/needed mic's I would get some of these, like the Guitar Cube mic. I checked some YouTube videos and it did seem to have a noticeable effect on the tone of recorded amped guitar, in a way that I liked. And it's only $70 instead of $180!

For a few more hours, $120 off a Vox all-tube 10" 4W practice amp, only $199. Could be fun and a nice intro to tube amps for folks who haven't had one before. Built in power attenuator lets you dial it down to 1W and 1/4W modes too.

I hesitate to mention this, but Amazon has a deal for a $17 cardioid condenser microphone. If you do not have a condenser mic, AND HAVE PHANTOM POWER on your interface, and want to dip your foot in the pool, this is a really really cheap way to do it.

Amazon has the Floureon BM-800 Condenser Studio Recording Microphone + Holder for a low $16.99 after Coupon Code: "3UFZVLEV" (Exp Soon). Free Shipping over $49 or with Amazon Prime. Tax in many states.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IA ... c2a26&th=1

People do DIY mods using this mic a bunch. A cheap one is here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Modify- ... icrophone/

Or you could do a more expensive mod here: https://microphone-parts.com/pages/bm700-mods

Today's Stupid Deal is on a Tascam DP-008EX. I had one of these a while ago and it was really good as a portable field recorder and quick-and-easy multitrack recording interface. I ended up selling it because I didn't need it anymore, but every now and then I regret that since I occasionally have uses for it after all. It's way better than using your iPhone for recording a jam session, for example.

UI's a little wonky and minimal but it does what it needs to really well.

The deal is at the usual place.

Amazon has Sennheiser HD 650 on sale for $300. This is a great set of headphones for mixing. I have a pair that are almost as nice and I love to mix on them.

Today's Stupid Deal of the Day is tempting me fiercely. It's a Gibson Les Paul Studio II Deluxe 60's neck flame maple top, $350 off from $1400 down to $1050:

Honeyburst finish, zebra stripe pickups, coil tap, true bypass boost circuit, and more. Part of me wants to upgrade from my current Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany...

Today's SDotD is a useful collection of gear for $100 - ART tube mp (toob microphone Preamp), MXL V63M (condenser microphone), balanced cable, and mic stand. This could all benefit your recording set up if you are using a cheap dynamic mic into your audio interface.

In case you haven't seen, Native Instruments is currently offering a 50% discount on all update/upgrade offers, until 2 July. So, for instance, if you have KOMPLETE Select (which is included with most of NI's hardware) and want to update to a newer version or upgrade to KOMPLETE or KOMPLETE Ultimate you pay 50% of the normal upgrade price. If you have way too much money you could even get KOMPLETE Select and upgrade to KOMPLETE Ultimate immediately afterwards to get a nice discount on the full price (1199 € -> 698,50 €).

Today's SDotD is a pretty sweet guitar, an Epiphone Limited Edition Nighthawk Custom Quilt Transparent Blue, marked down $120 from $450 to only $330. That's pretty dang cheap for a good guitar with a solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard, and fancy AAA flame maple top. This would be a good starter guitar for anybody out there. The pickup setup is very versatile and can cover a lot of tones and styles.

Amazon is discounting some Audio Technica headphones and microphones. I highly recommend the ATH-M50s for $112 if you don't have a nice pair of headphones yet.

I started on a pair of Sony 7506s as well, and now after using other/better headphones, I find them to be extremely harsh. I think the ATM-50s are much more balanced and easier to wear for longer periods of time. However, if you are really looking for a nice pair of headphones to mix on, go big and get the Sennheiser 650s! Now that is a quality headphone!
