OSX Mountain Lion

Post by Caravan Ray »

I just put OSX Mountain Lion on my iMac - and now the invisible scroll wheel on my mac mouse has just reversed direction.

I go down when I want to go up. I don't like it. I feel so disoriented.

It's not a biggie. Like, I don't need you to send money or anything. I think I will get over it eventually.

But I think I need a hug.

Silly wabbit! If you use a touch device you're used to pushing the page the direction you want it to slide, so that's the thinking behind that change. I felt the same way until I used it a bit and now find it much more intuitive. By making it the default I guess they were forcing folks to consider wtf or at least to spawn discussion threads about it.

I tried the new reverse scrolling thing, I really did, but I could not deal. I had to go back to the natrual down=down, up=up.

The one thing that drives me insane about 10.7 that is aparantly not fixable is that the scrollbars no longer have buttons on them to scroll up or down by exactly one line. It seems I am the only person to miss this, though.

I'm not a fan of the new login window look either, but that's just aesthetic, and how often does one look at the login window anyway?

This.

I like tablets and all, but many of the things that make sense on a tablet make a lot less sense on a desktop with dual monitors.

If it's any consolation, the Windows guys seem to hate Metro even more. Perhaps the backlash against the tabletification of the desktop will slow this erosion of interface?
