New Jenny Lewis album!

And probably some other stuff. I actually haven't had a chance to listen to the new Jenny Lewis. Stupid Warner messed up and didn't deliver it to Pandora till 5am this morning for some reason. >:(

Just finished up my first listen to the new Jenny Lewis and it is pleasant enough. It doesn't stand out to me like the Voyager, but is still a solid album.

Next up, Ex Hex - It's Real
Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

i would just like to remind everyone that Ken eats kittens - blue lang

I checked out the new Apparat album. I really love one that he did a few years ago, 'Walls', but this new one felt a little one-note, and that one-note is "relentlessly dour" so... I think that's a thumbs down from me.

Ex Hex was really good rock and roll!

Now, I'm listening to American Football - LP3 for the second time. Very beautiful music with mature lyrics. Guys in their 40s will love it!

I moved on to the new Lambchop album which has a surprising amount of autotuney / vocodey vocal FX! But in a good way! I'll definitely be returning to this one.

Andrew Bird's new album - My Finest Work Yet is a nice listen. Kind of mellow, but heartfelt and solid.

I'll check out Lambchop next since vowlvom made it sound good.

I'm pretty disappointed by the Jenny Lewis album. I guess I probably had unrealistically high expectations so that doesn't help. A few of the songs are good, most of them are just ok. It feels a bit slow and dragging at times. And what is up with the production of her voice? I feel like her vocals all have a bit crusher or lo-fi mp3 compression kind of distortion on them. Something about them just feels crunchy in a way I don't like. And then in that one song "Little White Dove", which I otherwise really like, there are two parts where they (deliberately I presume?) left in very painfully obvious autotune artifacts, scooping down a step and back up. Totally takes me out of the song for a moment when I hear that. Even that song though, I love the groove and atmosphere but the guitar solo comes in and cheeses all over it. Blarf. Don't get me started on the lyrics. They just seem a bit dumbed down compared to Voyager. :(
