I had a listen to the Freddie Gibbs / Madlib album. Not really my thing but the production is really nice. Also there's a new Whitney Houston song for some reason! So I listened to that. It was OK.

Seems like quite a weak week for new stuff, although I guess I'd feel differently if I liked Thom Yorke!

I will probably try to listen to Thom Yorke, King Gizzard (single), Boris & Abdullah Ibrahim from this weeks list...

Edit: Listened to King Gizzard's single Self-Immolate (King Gizzard Psych Wizards do Thrash Metal?), cool and also listened to Rare Field Ceiling by Yellow Eyes. Haven't had time to listen to anything else on my list yet. Also... where is the [s] strikeout BBCode on this board? Hrmmm?

I have not yet listened to either album, but Saturday night I went to a joint album release show for these two bands: Spirits Having Fun (Deerhoof-esque angular pop) and Hex House, some good friends of mine who just released their debut album (math and post-rock tinged post-hardcore). The bands were great in person, so I assume the albums are also great!

My friend William Z. Villain opened--he doesn't have a new album but you should listen to him too anyway ("Balkan blues, angry swing, Latin math").

Just saw that the Appleseed Cast released a new album, The Fleeting Light of Impermanence, and it is really good. Lots of cool guitar textures and riffs.

I just listened to that this morning! Exciting. They are one of the few bands whose releases I continue to buy years after getting into them.

Now checking out Spirits Having Fun. I like it. Not unlike The Drink.
