Also, thanks for citing my name, but you needn't. If you want to keep your own citation on there then I suppose I don't mind, but I'd just as soon refuse the credit (for the sake of the design, which I feel is hampered by it.)

I've got a nice Saturday (Mar. 29) afternoon gig arranged for us in the San Luis Obispo area at Lightning Joe's Guitar Heaven.
This is a venue for MELLOW - get it? MELLOW = no drum kit. MELLOW = don't bring your 4X10 rig. MELLOW = Songfighters with guitars, sipping coffee, lots of public passers-by.
It's in an old-timey village setting. There's even a farmers' market down the street! A nice stop on your way from LA to SF. And the local girls are pretty, too.
Anybody in?

Poster updated to include San Luis Obispo. If there is a time identified, or any additional bands, I will add them.

Trying to figure out just how big a vehicle I need to rent for the tour (and how much drinking money I'll have left over ).
Anti-M, Spud, Glenn, Marcus:
What gear do y'all need to fill out your backlines?
thx,

Re: Songfight Tour 2008 Planning
We're all set on my end. The only gear you guys need to bring is that which Octothorpe, fluffy, and the Primitive Screwheads need. The miking and cabling is all taken care of, too. Hopefully we can get everything set up, do some sound checks, then grab some dinner before the show, or something.

I'm waiting on a response from the dude -- as soon as I hear from him, I'll let you know. I hope he writes back soon!Rabid Garfunkel wrote:Trying to figure out just how big a vehicle I need to rent for the tour (and how much drinking money I'll have left over ).

I'm tentative for San Luis Obispo -- how long a drive up from LA is that, and what time of day/night? For once, my MELLOW uke + me will be appropriate, if the timing is good for wife and kids to live without me.

Re: Songfight Tour 2008 Planning
Since it appears that fluffy will be in YOUR caravan, and since Crash is not making it across the mountains, we will have room to carry our own drums to Moscow, as well as the rest of our gear.
Here is what we will be plugging in:
Bass (switching out 2 basses)
I will bring a bass amp or not, per your instructions
Nord Lead II Synth (mono)
Casio Digi-Horn (mono)
we might bring another keyboard, unless you have something that sounds like a piano.
I will bring DIs for keys and horn, which can go into the house sound.
We need three mics, including one for the accordion.
This doesn't include anything that P++ might need to help us out.
We can bring drums or not, your call, Pat.

Hey, Minty Handy and everybody else: SLO county is about 3 1/2 hours north of LA. If you're going home to the Bay Area on Saturday (March 29, the day after the Culver City show,) by all means stop on in!
NOTE that Lighning Joe's Guitar Heaven is technically in Arroyo Grande, (100 E Branch St, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.) Call 805) 481-2226 if you need directions.

I believe Spud was referring to how your avatar was making an FTP password dialog box come up, since you were apparently storing your avatar on an FTP server.

Crap, this is what I get for not checking the board today.Spud wrote:Since it appears that fluffy will be in YOUR caravan, and since Crash is not making it across the mountains, we will have room to carry our own drums to Moscow, as well as the rest of our gear.

Spud, Anti-M's sweating the backline for PDX. I'm sort of the backup guy for last minute needs & acquisitions, I guess. I'll keep you updated on the status of drum needs, if any (which would be small items-crash cymbal & kick pedal... everyone hates my kick pedal ).
So far it's turning out I can leave all the heavy lifting/large gear at home (amps, drums). Glenn?
Marcus, please add a second DI to our connections list (the acoustic guitar is 99.9% confirmed in).
Accordion, eh Spud? Can you polka @ ±192 bpm? Hip hip...

If anyone's looking for a place to stay in SLO, Bridge Creek Inn was a fantastic place. So scenic, an awesome house, excellent people.

Re: Songfight Tour 2008 Planning
I wasn't ignoring you punks, I was waiting for answers. But now I have them. Shall I post this in the redundant PDX show thread or here? Oh what the hell. I'll just post here.
No need to bring drums to Portland, unless you need something fancy. Ryan is making his kit available to use. Let's see -- his kit includes a Bass, snare, two toms, a crash and hi hat. I hope I named all those thingees correctly.
Here's what flakey Portland venue says re: setup --
****************
we have happy hour music from 6-8 so you can load in and set up anytime after 8. There is a PA there with 2 moniters and mains. Its a powered mixer onstage, very straight forward. I think its a 10 or 12 channel mixer. There is a couple mics, stands and cables but to be on the safe side you should bring what you need in that department as they are constantly "dissapearing" so i can't really say what will be ther and what won't. Thanks!
****************
So I think we're gonna be responsible for bringin' our own noise, as it were. I recommend bringing mics and cables -- and make sure that you've got your shit clearly labeled.
So -- what do people need to be there that they aren't bringing? I will set about amassing the requisite missing gear. I can guarantee that I can amass whatever we need.
Scheduling is another matter -- I'll start wrangling that in the Portland thread, I think.
Thanks!

Re: Songfight Tour 2008 Planning
Doh! Read the PDX thread before this one. I've put an "available gear" list there for your shopping pleasure. Good on ya, Auntie!
Does Ryan's kit have a floor (free-standing) tom?
