Ye Olde Lyric Marte
Chin Music, redux
Hi -- one of our band is incapacitated -- but we hads writ already -- please take if you want change it, whatever -- you don't have to ask permission (I'm off the net for some days, I'm sorry 2 say) -- best, good luck, and so forth -- This is a double-post (also posted in "JotI" lyrics thread) because I sorta didn't understand that the Mart was about this...
Jesus on the Intercom
I was sailing the submarine of state
Into oceans both blue and calm
When Paco shouted to the pilot’s cabin
He says “I’ve got Jesus on the intercom!â€

All Tan
"All Tan"
Written by Niveous Devilchild, performed by ????
They say you can't be forgiven
If you have never been a sinner
I don't know if God is discerning
But I'll do a deed to get in his graces
I need a little bit of faith
Because I have dreams of everyone dying
Vivid and bloody, leaves me in shivers
I'll do anything to be forgiven
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
I carved cuts in my hands
scars on my arms of stigmatas
Touch myself with the blood
Anything to feel closer to God
I need a little bit of faith
Because I can't get out the nightmares
Bodies all tan under rays of light
Screaming, bleeding, sizzle & fry
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
I just might be too late
Did God already turn away?
I'll be your saint, your sinner
I just wanna be forgiven
I need a little bit of faith
Because in my head I know the ending
Worms crawling on their bellies
Praying while the sun is killing us
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
This world is going to die
We'll all be burnt by the sun
(Feel free to adjust for prosody as you deem fit)

Be happy or not, yo.
"Control Yourself"
(the world is glad that I didn't try to pull off an old school ('70s-'80s) British ska hoarsey voice on this... maybe I'll do a Selecter homage at a later time, eh?)
Chorus:
Ooo-ooh, why can't you control yourself (x3)
See a shiny bauble on the BBC One
You know you can't afford it sans a credit card, hon'
But then you're down in the shop, the pretty in your hand
Just another bit of debt, ain't that plastic grand?
Chorus
You bought the pub a round and now it's far past last call
You shoulda called a cab, now you're headed for a fall
Didn't see the cyclist, now she's smeared across your hood
Sorry 'bout your luck mate, looks like you really fucked up good
Chorus
Double time freek-out
(Third verse, on predatory women working the welfare angle with an increasing amount of children being pumped out for profit; or just sexually stupid women in general... sorry I don't have words here)
Chorus and out

Beauty is a Burden
Use freely. These won't work for me.
Beauty is a Burden
beauty is a burden she never wanted
no escape from the pawing testosterone
she tried to cut her face away
but the wounds heal, and she suffers alone
beauty is a burden when you don't have any
they will mock you and treat you like shit
you will cry, but you will soon realize
what "they" say is not always important
beauty is a burden she used to have
but now she's wrinkled as beauty fades
layers upon layers of Mary Kay
but it's not her face she must replace
beauty is a burden
but only by definition two
take your superficial beauty
and give me...
"The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality. "
...kind of beauty

Oh man, this was my original horrible version of You Get The Wiser. It was originally about a tutor that's jealous of another tutor for getting all smart kids. Bloated, esoteric, and not saying anything? You bet. Speak of this to no one.
You Get The Wiser original version by Jordan Cooper
All this time I’ve spent working my whole life to get ahead
All these kids I’ve taught, many of them not smarter than a rock
Private tutoring’s a great thing for you
When a genius kid is in your classroom
I get the dumb one and you get the wiser
He just doesn’t get why armies fight and people drop dead
Numbers should just stay put, and at chemistry well, he’s not very good
I’ve tried and tried and I’m exhausted
But you’ve got a little Stephen hawking
I get the dumb one and you get the wiser
All this time I’ve spent working my whole life to get ahead
Planning way too hard and being shocked when I get no regard
I get the dumb life and you get the wiser

two versions of Georgia's Hand
Two slightly different versions of Georgia's Hand, related but separate.
1)
I wanna feel Georgia's hand
Georgia's never had a man
Seventeen, dyn-o-mite,
kinda girl start a lotta fights.
I wanna be in Georgia's room
but Georgia's Ma would be my doom
sweet and mean, young and strict,
Georgia's hand upon my dick
leather clad in Georgia's dreams
in my mind she makes me scream
twist that knife into my side
come on Georgia open wide
2)
Georgia moved down here from New York City.
Named after the country, not the state.
Folks think she must be a southern lady.
Just the kind of folks that Georgia hates.
Georgia has a friend that she called "Becky"
even though that's really not her name
at sundown I see Becky coming over
Georgia's at the door to start their games
Not sure why poor Becky is the bottom.
Except that they both like it that way.
Becky has to call Georgia by "Mistress".
And has to do just what her Mistress say.
Chorus:
Wish I could feel the touch of Georgia's hand.
But Georgia's never loved any man.
Georgia puts on her nurse's outfit
and orders Becky into a patient's gown
Becky says she doesn't want to wear it
Georgia says "that's it bitch, you goin' down!"
Georgia ties poor Becky to the table.
And takes some time to strap her dildo on.
Becky starts to beg, "Please Mistress, Fuck Me!"
Georgia she takes aim and drives it home.
(guitar solo)
Chorus:
Wish I could feel the touch of Georgia's hand.
But Georgia's never ever loved a man.
I know I'd only get in Georgia's way.
But still I dream of Georgia every day.

Convalescence
Here's lyrics for the song to which I have no music...
Convalescence
It was something about the size of the diamond or the gem that didn’t suit her
It might’ve been the restaurant choice or the way they diced the fruit or
Maybe it was because the moon was in the house of Jupiter —
I don’t know —
All I know was that things were breaking down
I’m a sensitive male but she called me Bozo the Clown
Something in me snapped so I walked out the door (SLAM)
But this was at my apartment so I hung around the corner
Till I saw her leave and then I dashed back inside
It looked like everything was there, I’d only lost my pride
She left me a message that night and it said “Freddie my dear
I believe we must be separated it’s perfectly clear” (FALSETTO VOICE OPTIONAL)
She calls it “separated” but to me it looks like it’s time for
Convalescence
I’m due for a major rest
Convalescence
Now I can go bowling at midnight
Convalescence
I think it’s time for my meds
Convalescence
This might take years to heal
Con-la-vescence, I don’t even have to say it right (TIME CHANGE TO SLOW BEAT, BIG FINISH HERE)
And every night when I say my prayers (BOOM)
I shut my eyes real tight and I thank my blessed Jesus (BOOM)
For one more day of bliss I like to call
Convalescence
ooooooooooooo!

king me
say your prayers - sing your pain
kings to ground - your acid rain
give up your vows - burn your vein
drop the needle one more time just to live again
king me, sing me
never have you seen me
walking down your street in the middle of the night
hold me, fold me
never have you showed me
the tender little worms that you keep inside
say your prayers - sing your pain
kings to ground - your acid rain
give up your vows - burn your vein
drop the needle one more time just to live again
king me, ring me
how much did you sting me?
those tracks along your arm, do they keep you warm?
hate me, fate me
you look queenly, stately
sleeping in the gutter in the middle of the storm
say your prayers - sing your pain
kings to ground - your acid rain
give up your vows - burn your vein
drop the needle one more time just to live again

Ultra cheap, I had intended these for use in a fast paced punkish type song. Use'em, fix'em, add to them, ignore'm. You don't get much cheaper than free!
I had a wet dream
I was on a SWAT team
We got called into a scene
Time to read someone a magazine
Chorus:
You ain't gonna get a more credible threat
Than a yo-yo on a string
on the hand of a blind king-
-which way do you swing?
I had a new idea
To spin around the fear
I guess that you don't see too clear
'cuz man oh man the buck starts here
It's so regretable, we got a credible threat
I had a wet dream
I was on a SWAT team
We got called into a scene
Time to read someone a magazine
Chorus:
You ain't gonna get a more credible threat
Than a yo-yo on a string

Some lyrics for the snatching-up-of. If you use them, FEEL FREE TO CHANGE ANYTHING IN THEM; it's not my song anymore. Still, if the final product resembles what follows, I'd thank you to give credit where it's due. Either in the mp3 tag or on the board. 8)
Mr. Sandwich, lyrics by Jon Eric
I bet you feel like you're stuck
Between two slices of honey oat bread
Because you left the man who loves you
For the man who can ensure that you stay fed
But I can be your hero
I can be your submarine
I know I'm just a poor boy
but at least I'm not a part of the machine
You wanted Mr. Right
You wanted Mr. Cool,
Wound up with Mr. Sandwich
I guess that's okay too
I can make you happy
I wanna be with you
I think you wanna be with me too
Not with Mr. Sandwich
I bet it feels like you're drowning
In olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette
Because I stepped around the counter
Just to tell you that I haven't given up yet
So he promised you a franchise
So he promised you a car
I don't think that he'll deliver
I don't think that you're his star
[chorus]
[bridge]
It isn't easy to look at two human beings and choose who's best
I wouldn't think it's any easier having seen them both undressed
I smell like ham and tomatoes, so I see why you would want to stay
Yeah, you've got Mr. Sandwich, and he wants to keep you
Wants to hold you
Wants to feed you
So it's gonna be okay
I guess it feels like I am sinking,
Like the ground is made of soft cheddar cheese
And I have lost the will to pull up
I've just let myself sink to my knees
I'll never be your hero
Never be your submarine
I'm just some sap who loves you
And it makes me wanna scream
'Cause I'm not Mr. Right
And I'm not Mr. Cool
You're with Mr. Sandwich
And he's just a wealthy tool
I can make you happy
I wanna be with you
But you don't wanna be with me too
I'm not as rich as Mr. Sandwich
Not a success like Mr. Sandwich
Not in charge like Mr. Sandwich
I'm not Mr. Sandwich
[end song]
If you're having trouble resolving this with a usable melody, perhaps the following elucidation might help:
I'm picturing the second-to-last line of the chorus sustained, as though it were doing the work of a whole couplet, and the last line of the chorus acting sort of like the start of a new couplet, left with unresolved tension as we glide into the next verse.

"Switcheroo"
written by Niveous
recorded by ????
(feel free to adjust lyrics as needed)
I can feel you trembling
The night is closing in
And when the moon comes up
I know the change will begin
I'll hold you close
While it's still safe
And once the sun fades
I'll lock you away
I won't hide from your love
Or the instinct inside of you
I'll stay here all night
Until the end of this switcheroo
Slivers of sun remain
I put you in your cage
How could such a beautiful face
Hold such rage?
When the time comes
I'll turn my face away
You will always have my love
But I can't watch you change
I won't hide from your love
Or the instinct inside of you
I'll stay here all night
Until the end of this switcheroo
You howl at the moon
And rattle the bars
As I wait patiently
For the death of the stars
The sun will rise again
And the madness will fade
I'll hold my love
We've survived another day
I won't hide from your love
Or the instinct inside of you
I'll stay here all night

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
"God's thumb"
I hear them whispering
About the things that I do
It's like a scandal
They're saying I'm no good
They call me broken
And say I'm losing my faith
Think I'm a lost soul
They wanna show me the way
They're treating me like I'm under a curse
Wanna make me confess, Wanna drag me to church
I can feel their pressure pushing me down
I'm just not as holy as thou
They give me hard stares
As I walk down the street
They tell my family
Horrible lies about me
Say there's a demon
Living under my skin
Because I won't change my faith
And I won't give in
They're treating me like I'm under a curse
Wanna make me confess, Wanna drag me to church
I can feel their pressure pushing me down
I'm just not as holy as thou
And I hold on things
That are important to me
I don't pray like they do
But there are things I believe
There is more to this life
Than you can undestand
Don't put me under the thumb
Of your God's hand
They're treating me like I'm under a curse
Wanna make me confess, Wanna drag me to church
I can feel their pressure pushing me down
I'm just not as holy as thou
I hear them whispering
About the things that I do
It's like a scandal
They're saying I'm no good
They call me broken
And say I'm losing my faith
Think I'm a lost soul
They wanna show me the way
They're treating me like I'm under a curse
Wanna make me confess, Wanna drag me to church
I can feel their pressure pushing me down
I'm just not as holy as thou
They give me hard stares
As I walk down the street
They tell my family
Horrible lies about me
Say there's a demon

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
feel free to make any lyric changes, restructure, etc. I'm hearing this as a slow country ballad thing, but take it wherever it takes you...
"All We Could See at the Window"
lyric by King Arthur
verse:
The Texas town / where I grew up
Was one main street and three red lights;
We went to school and then we went to work
And there was not much to do on those Saturday nights
There was the Window Theatre right there between
The Arby's and the KFC,
But all we could see at the Window
Was places that we'd rather be.
verse:
All by myself at the late, late show
Staring up at that silver screen
Watching the latest Hollywood dream
Three months after it premiered down in New Orleans.
At the Window Theater, across the street
From the store where we bought our first TV
'Cause all we could see at the Window
Was places that we'd rather be.
bridge:
"This town is dying," my daddy used to say
"The best and the brightest have all moved away."
One morning we were walking down by the railroad track
And he said, "if you ever get the chance to go...
Don't look back."
verse:
The Texas town / where I grew up
Is now a warehouse with a big IKEA sign
The Window Theatre was long ago torn down,
The last gas station closed in 1989.
You can't even tell that there once was a place
Full of dreamers just wanting to be free
'Cause all we could see at the Window
Was places that we'd rather be.

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
Again, do with it as you will...
IN THE VALLEY
lyric: King Arthur
My grandfather's buried in the French countryside
One night with my grandma and then next day he died.
Everybody cheering as his unit rolled away,
Everybody knew what happened on the following day.
Allies in the Valley, Krauts on the hill
If the bullets don't get you, the bayonets will,
But at least you could believe in what you were dying for
Back when we were fighting the war to end all war.
My uncle came home from the Nam in a box
Now he's buried in a cemetery just outside Knox(ville)
Fighting for a country that didn't seem to care
It was crazy over here; it was worse over there.
Grunts in the Valley, Cong on the hill,
If the snipers don't get you, the grenade girls will.
One day he said dying was the best defense
But the day he died was the day war stopped making sense.
My cousin has a friend who just got killed
In a drive-by death over in Angelville.
People everywhere saying "we want peace,"
And yet we're killing each other here on our own streets.
Bangers in the Valley, dealers on the hill
If the Crips don't get you, the Bloodbath will
Murdering for meth, killing over crack,
And we haven't learned a thing 'cause we don't look back.

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
Mediocre Savior
I think I’m losing my mind or at least what little bit I had to start with
I think I’ve had it up to here with these mood swings and lack of control.
I’ve got a ticking inside—I’ve got a time bomb ready to explode
And I want to diffuse it, but I can’t refuse it, no I cannot do it alone
And I don’t like the alternative but I got no choice
I’ve got this pill to help me to think straight
It keeps me going on
Sometimes I feel ill, sometimes I feel great
And sometimes I just don’t care
It seems to be working
But the side effects sometimes seem worse
It’s my Mediocre Savior
I’ve got an A-OK to take this drug but I just wanted to be clean
I’ve got a ‘Yes’, ‘No’, ‘Maybe’ battle in my head and it makes me want to scream
Gotta take a deep breath—Gotta keep myself in line.
I don’t wanna lose it, I’m always confused, but I know I can’t do it alone
And I don’t like the alternative but I got no choice
(CHORUS)
(It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s somewhere in-between 4x)
(continue to repeat)
I’m hoping the day will come
When I can stop making my brain numb
When I can think for myself without this stupid drug
I’m hoping to finally leave
This addiction to keep my sanity
When all I have to do it live my life.

City in Fog
A CITY IN FOG
SO SIT ON THE BOG
AND TAKE A SHIT
TAKE A SHIT
A CITY IN FOG
SO SIT ON THE BOG
AND TAKE A SHIT
TAKE A SHIT
SIT ON THE BOG WITH YOUR PANTS ROUND YOUR ANKLES
YOU CAN'T TAKE A SHIT WHILE YOU DANCE OR PLAY SCRABBLE
DON'T KILL THE SPIDER ON THE WALL
HE'S JUST HANGING OUT IN THE BATHROOM THAT'S ALL
HE'S NOT A SPY FOR THE SOVIETS
HE JUST WANTS SOMEWHERE TO SLEEP
AND YOU SHIT STINKS SO BAD
IT BRINGS HIM IN FLIES TO EAT
A CITY IN FOG
SO SIT ON THE BOG
AND TAKE A SHIT
TAKE A SHIT
A CITY IN FOG
SO SIT ON THE BOG
AND TAKE A SHIT
TAKE A SHIT

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
I am sorely tempted. But it would have to be a capella choral number.

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
This is my first attempt. I think it reads more like poetry than like lyrics, but then I've more background writing poems.
I don't foresee recording an actual song real soon, but I can at least play around with lyrics.

Half a Million Nerds
In the minds of a half million nerds
culture slips
troubles fade
technology shines
Chorus:
They have the brains,
but not the braun.
They shape society
but live anon.
In the eyes of half a million nerds
shunned by girls
beaten by jocks
solutions twinkle
[chorus]
In the heart of half a million nerds
feelings lurch
heartache looms
best another day
[chorus]
By the hands of half a million nerds
answers found
knots unraveled
life is improved

Re: Ye Olde Lyric Marte
Here's another idea I had. This time it has more of a song-like structure.
While I thought I might be able to include the word parthenogenesis in the song, and it works in the context of both Athena as well as the lackluster relationship skills of nerds, I decided it just wouldn't fit with the over all flow.
Like before, this is released under the Creative Commons "Attribution" license. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/us/ Do what you want. Play it, record it, destroy it, make massive amounts of money from it. I don't want a dime. I just want credit where credit is due.

Half a Million Nerds
In my dreams, my darkest dreams
I see nerds, half a million nerds
Hunting, picking, hawking and gawking
Prying apart the technology of my heart
Befriended by curiosity's cat.
Led astray by Athena's owl.
They missed the lesson on social grace.
In my dreams, my darkest scene
There are nerds, half a million nerds
Clawing, barking, howling and irate
Smashing apart the technology of my heart
Befriended by curiosity's cat.
Led astray by Athena's owl.
They missed the lesson on being cool.
Was I there? there that day,
the day they taught the rules.
I don't know. I feel lost.
My head, my heart, is gone.
In my dreams, my latest scene
There are nerds, half a million nerds
Rocking, laughing, puking and crazed
I am sharing in that of which I am at heart.
