Signs of depression:
1. Behaviour
• General slowing down or restlessness - check
• Neglecting responsibilities and not looking after themselves - check
• Withdrawing from family and friends - only the ones I don't like
• Becoming confused, worried and agitated - YES, every time I smoke a joint and then jump in the washing machine!
• Inability to find pleasure in any activity - umm, does that include getting drunk, looking at porn, masturbating and playing my guitar loud as balls?
• Finding it difficult to get motivated in the morning - HUGE check
• Behaving differently from normal - check
• Denying depressive feelings – this can be used as a defence mechanism - check

Sorry BLT - I don't quite follow you

but suffice to say, male depression is one of the very few things that I do actually take seriously. That is why I grow a moustache every Movember and that is why the death of a talented young man like Armatige Shanks Marsland has appalled me so much. Yes - this is a rare serious moment - but a world where suicide is a common cause of death for young men is a very sad world.

Actually, I did that little bit in Richard Marsland's honor. After seeing this thread about a person I've never heard of, I decided to read further. I was amazed by this man's accomplishments at such a young age and the admiration of those that had the pleasure of knowing him. I then watched about 45 minutes of his bits on youtube and a few other media sources. Although I could never get to a fraction of his brilliance in 45 minutes, I did get a good feel for his talent. He had the ability to take any random information, song, etc and make it hilarious and entertaining. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Maybe the intoxicated state I was in helped that, but he was a clever and funny man. The signs of depression up there is from a link you posted, so I took the test. The information said that if I experienced symptoms (copy and pasted in italic) in at least three of the following categories, I may be suffering from depression.

By the way John, I also noticed that one of Richard Marsland's friends, Jack Martin, looks just like you. Are you really Jack Martin? Jack....John? I'm beginning to wonder.

Also, seeing that this is a serious matter for you, I am also serious with you. I'll just leave it at that.
