Haha, you guys, just do a song when you have time.
The not so important deadline is a force of nature for this fight. Whenever budbreak happens. I thought it would be around today but a recent cold spell has given you all extra time. And hey, even after budbreak, I'll check out what people were able to enter. And we might extend. It might have been a too-silly idea to base the deadline on a biological process.

Re: Wine Songs
Details on this gig, please? If you have a chance to travel south while you're here, I'd be happy to show you the vineyard! It's like two minutes from Carcassonne. A ways south from Limoges.j$ wrote:I would love to have a song about wine in my repertoire, especially as I am playing a gig in Limoges towards the end of the month, but it's highly unlikely I could have anything recorded before Tuesday evening.

Re: Wine Songs
That's great - i should have it finished tonight. Just need to add a few sexy layers.
The gig is a private party in a Chateau (darling!) just outside a small village called Cahors, halfway down the road between Limoges and Toulouse. So it's closer to Carcassonne.
The gig is on Saturday 25th April then we'll be staying on two days at the Chateau, and we'll have a car and a desire to tour a vineyard, so we may well be up for a visit (dependant on my other half who does all the driving.) Are you around at that time?

"Spin The Bottle" was a perfect title for this.

Re: Wine Songs
Better late than never?
Chorus is a bit wonky, and it's loose like a rentboy's back pocket, but I like it.
Why Do People Listen When You Talk About Wine?
Why do people listen when you talk about wine?
Spitting in a bucket? Fuck it, what a waste of time!
Did your mum not teach you swallow, never spit?
There's no booze I would refuse if alcohol's in it
I drink to get drunk ‘cos being crapulous is fabulous
Each time that you whine about wine, it emasculates Bacchus
Those who say wine-making's Godly and bucolic
Are just snobs still trying to deny they're alcoholics
Middle class wine-tasting insults Dionysus
Vineyard's not a would-be library, it's young Off-Licence
I drink to get drunk ‘cos getting crapulent is succulent
I'll down that spittoon, before your waffle makes you truculent
I don't care 'bout vintage, regions, age of liquor
Sniffing at your talk of corks, ‘cos screw-tops are much quicker
Terror of le terroir, grape pornography
Choose an early death by meths before oenology
See, wine is for drinking, not pompous talk about wine
Stick your damned aroma wheel up where the sun don’t shy-i-ine

Re: Wine Songs
Yeesh. Update: Buds broke. That means J$ is the only person who got a song in before deadline! I didn't even finish on time.
I'm about to run away to Paris for a few days so let's just say the deadline is now APRIL 30th. That is when I will announce this little competition to the world and hopefully the few blog readers I send to songfight will see more than one or two songs about wine. ALTHOUGH, the one song that has been submitted is awesome enough to stand for the songfight spirit.
--
My schedule is pretty crazy, but I bet I'll be around after your Cahors show. Keep in touch and we'll figure something out if you and yours want to visit. I promise the wine is delicious. Ask the people who came to SongFight Tampa.

Re: Wine Songs
I'm sorry Egg, I'm not going to make your graciously extended deadline either. Drat. I hope you get some more excellent songs in addition to J$!

Re: Wine Songs
Surely that should be 'excellent songs in addition to J$'s'?

Yes, that is really exactly what I meant!
