FAWM 2010 Albums
Anybody want to share a zip of their fawm albums? It would be nice to have them all downloadable in one thread. Album art would also be awesome.

Re: FAWM 2010 Albums
I don't really see enough coherence in what I did to make a single album.
That said, there are more than enough bonzah tracks to finish an album. 121 uke songs in a year to pick from + first week of march off to re-record 20 = the proper "Warning: May Contain Ukulule".
You can win a free copy in advance by playing "guess the album tracks" at http://www.fawm.org/fawmers/johnnycashpoint (but only if you comment)
I may explore the kazoo next.

Re: FAWM 2010 Albums
SO I have hardly ever made a zip of anything. What am I doing wrong if my original folder with the mp3s is 51 megs and teh zip is 47?
Or is that normal and the point is just to create a single downloadable file?

Re: FAWM 2010 Albums
you can listen to mine until the zongs are busted and then i'm taking them down and locking them away forever. it was one of my worst months of songwriting ever.

I think that's normal. MP3 files are designed to be as small as possible. Zipping them doesn't have much effect.Ross wrote:SO I have hardly ever made a zip of anything. What am I doing wrong if my original folder with the mp3s is 51 megs and teh zip is 47?

Re: FAWM 2010 Albums
MP3s are already compressed data, so zip-ing them probably won't compress them down much more, I believe.Ross wrote:SO I have hardly ever made a zip of anything. What am I doing wrong if my original folder with the mp3s is 51 megs and teh zip is 47?

Ok, here's me. It has a pdf with brief liner notes but no art.

warning - folky, wordy, and almost all solo- acoustic. But I think it's pretty good!

Re: FAWM 2010 Albums
i think rar does a better job of zipping digital data, but not sure how well it does on mp3s.

I would be very surprised if it made a significant difference.HeuristicsInc wrote:i think rar does a better job of zipping digital data, but not sure how well it does on mp3s.
Also, 7-Zip is where the party is. Plus it's free.

yeah, you're right:
81368929 Mar 3 16:34 /cygdrive/c/users/wmm/songs/HeuristicsInc/Remix-3.rar
81496906 Mar 3 16:34 /cygdrive/c/users/wmm/songs/HeuristicsInc/Remix-3.zip
...and the original files are 81016k.
rar does a good job of losslessly compressing WAV files for collabs, though. should check out 7-zip.

Therman: Light & Shadows
I cut it down to 11 tracks and remixed the stuff I wasn't happy with. Let me know what you guys think!
