There are plenty of indie rock hipsters around here, someone will love Rilo Kiley.

Personally, I don't quite love Rilo Kiley, but I do like them.

I saw them play some epic show out here that included M. Ward and Califone. I was underwhelmed... but then again, I was eagerly awaiting M. Ward and Califone. So, perhaps I didn't give them enough of a chance.

They did not blow my skirt up.

...But M. Ward and Califone do! Check them out.

Rilokiley-philes make me think that I should give them yet another listen. People who like them are always liking them WAYALOT. I just can't fathom what one's musical diet consists of for them to hear Rilo Kiley and be of the opinion that they are the second coming of musical awesomeness. Every song I hear from them sounds like MOR pseudoindie film soundtrack music (played during a montage where a dude realizes that he likes a girl, and does something involving bike riding).

I think they're incredibly boring, live and otherwise. But I know a lot of people that are like obsessssed.

I like 'em. Spud and Marcus took me to see them for my birthday last year.

It is clear you are new here. I'm a college radio DJ, of course I love Rilo Kiley. Further, the first replier to this thread, Bjam, requested that for the annual Gift of Music event somebody cover "Frug" by RK off of their first, self-released EP, initially self-titled but then repressed and renamed the Initial Friend EP.

I first heard Rilo Kiley in either 2002 or 2003, and the first song of theirs I heard was "With Arms Outstretched." It's very good, and still one of my favorites of theirs. After _More Adventurous_ was released they played Seattle, Washington, at the Showbox on, I think, March 15 2005, a show that I attended with my roommate, Spud, and fluffy. It was a great show. Brunettes opened and they ruled, Feist played second and though I love her album I didn't enjoy the live show very much, and then RK played and it was great. The encore was a cover of "Let My Love Open the Door" by Pete Townshend, featuring the Brunettes, Feist, and also Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie. Good show, good band. More Adventurous is almost certainly their best work, and judging by The Elected (Blake Sennett's solo project)'s latest, and Jenny Lewis's solo album, it might stay that way, regrettably.

No, more like June 15. You know, the day after Elite Inner Echelon Blood Circle day.

Or maybe it was <a href="http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/e/2005/06/19-s ... o.php">the 19th</a>.

Regardless, it was in June.

(I wasn't even in Seattle in March, silly.)

I missed this thread earlier, but I loooooove RK. And I can't describe it or explain it either. I have a good friend who's tastes in music nearly mirror mine and he HATES them. I love the honesty of the lyrics, I appreciate people who can sing about all of their worst qualities. They were recently in Atlanta and I was dying to see them, but it was opening for Coldplay, so I abstained. Not because I hate Coldplay, but I simply can't be bothered with arena shows much anymore...unless it's Radiohead.

Califone shows up on my Slacker radio stations a little bit. They sound just like Drop Dead Average, a songfighter from yesteryear. At first I thought it was him when I heard it. It's very similar.
