March 30, 2014 - Studio porn

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

March 30, 2014 - Studio porn

Post by fluffy »

Share pictures of your setup.

I'll start. My big weekend project for the last few weeks has been finally getting rid of a bunch of clutter and replacing the furniture I've been simply putting up with, with furniture that actually fits my space and its purpose. I did my bedroom first, then the dining room, and finally finished the studio on Saturday.

Image

I finally have things organized well enough that you wouldn't know I have a couple dozen instruments around (although I invite you to play "Where's Waldo" and count the number that actually are visible in the image - I count 2224 (EDIT: noticed two that I overlooked before) although some of them are only visible in the sense that they contribute pixels but aren't necessarily discernible or recognizable as what they are).

Anyway now I really have no excuse to not work on music.

Looks great! I like how the fish eye lens (or whatever it's called) gives it that cool amphitheater look. That is the widest F-hole body guitar I've ever seen. ;)

I'd rather play "where's Werner". :D

It's a panoramic photo stitched together from a bunch of regular photos. The guitar is stretched out because it's so far below the horizon, similar to why Canada and Alaska look so big on the map.

I probably did better than most, because I recognized Fred as an instrument. It's hard to see inside the drawers, etc., but I did find a pink kazoo (#14)... I never remember which cat is which.

Hints for the last six?

The kids are at camp, so this is the studio for July.

Guess I missed the part about Waldo. But then one could say that laptop has millions...

More importantly, how does one size images in BBCode that is acceptable here?

I have another synth module, and some instruments are in cases in the closet and only a few pixels of said cases are visible. And there's musical toys in some of the clear drawers. There's also a wind instrument near the guitar that fascinates BLT, and a couple of other little noise generators and MIDI controllers (which count just as much as the drum kit).

What you identified as #15 isn't an instrument, though, it's a clip-on guitar tuner. And, sorry, but 14 isn't a kazoo but a broken iPod.

Good work on the cats though. As a hint, Werner is male and Fiona is a female, and certain kinds of cats can only be one of the two.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about #15.

Okay so here's a listing of what you can find in the image, if you know where to look:

9 guitars
1 cello
2 violins (in cases in the closet)
1 mandolin (in a case in the closet)
electric drum kit
wavedrum
glockenspiel
Kaossilator (on the shelf next to the 3D printer)
medium-size keyboard controller (in the closet)
tiny keyboard controller (below the Kaossilator)
Fred (SIDstation)
Yamaha TX-7
2 ukuleles (ukuleli?)
digital piano
recorder (buried in a pile of crap on the bookshelves to the right)

That's 25. Then there's also a few musical toys, miscellaneous shakers, etc.
