9/3/15 Thoughts on a Winter SF show

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

9/3/15 Thoughts on a Winter SF show

Post by Niveous »

I'm still riding the high from SF Live and I wonder what people think about the idea of doing a Winter SF show. (This isn't a suggestion per se, just a broad concept thrown out to see what the feelings are on such things)

I've been thinking about that idea lately, too. I think it'd be fun. I don't know what effect that would have on attendance though. Maybe just as many people would show up to both the summer and winter shows. Or maybe they'd both get smaller crowds. I'm not sure two smaller events is as exciting to me.

I'd be into it. But it would have to be somewhere in the south -- I've heard rumors that frozen water falls from the sky and sticks to the ground in the north in the winter; I have a hard time imagining that, but if it's true then I don't want to be subjected to it.

If some other key folks here were to help me I think we could host in the SF Bay Area relatively easily. We'd really only need to secure a venue. Worst case we could probably have it at a different rehearsal place, as I know of at least one that rents a room with a stage where you can have small audiences. And we don't have frozen water falling from the sky. Maybe just liquid water if we're lucky.

I love and miss the smaller SF Presents shows. I think the last one I went to was Van Nuys in 200...6? I want to say?

So, yeah, I'm up for it.

I also like the idea of every presidents day weekend in the Bay area for an SF live event.

Oh right, I forgot we'd talked about that. That's nicely offset from the main SFLive event. Sort of conflicts with Valentine's Day though. Next year President's Day is Monday the 15th, for example. I'm not sure if that matters much to people. Maybe we could do it a weekend before or after that...? Or the weekend of MLK day in January or something.

I was hoping we could do a spring break show in the Bay Area the weekend of March 25th.

I'd be happy to help plan a show here in the fall/winter as well. No problem.

I think the last Presents show was (East Coast) NYC in Apr 2009.
I'd have trouble getting to anything West Coast, personally.

It could be SongFight! Presents: East vs. West. two nights of blood-soaked musical mayhem. That way there could be a battle royale, and much smack talking, and folks who have a hard time making it to the far coast will still have an opportunity. Unfortunately, our Midwest friends will have to choose sides.
