Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
I think it was just the nature of the process to write the song (correspondence over a week, with an unsure sense of how the story would end) resulted in me having to submit the song to public scrutiny way before I had decided I was comfortable with it, especially because it was dealing with topics that I don't want to disrespect even within the context of an obviously wacko song. I had a panic attack about it. Sorry for the drama!j$ wrote: drama was for

Glad to see you back in. Now could you perhaps un-remove your lyrics? Won't let it influence my review, still it would be kind of you.BenKrieger wrote:I think it was just the nature of the process to write the song (correspondence over a week, with an unsure sense of how the story would end) resulted in me having to submit the song to public scrutiny way before I had decided I was comfortable with it, especially because it was dealing with topics that I don't want to disrespect even within the context of an obviously wacko song. My need for judge-suck-up has now passed...but if an example was ever needed to show the integrity of Nur Ein it was this round. Unless I'm looking at the history incorrectly, I'm eliminated in the same round as last year's runner-up. The judges clearly don't take sides or favorites.

Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
In response to RangerDenni's commentary in the lyrics department, to the Eggshells DJRD track. I went to post my tardy shadow fight lyx and got educated and felt like offering something, which is odd because I usually say NOTHING on this broader topic field.
Yes we in Australia have GST on feminine hygiene products, no I don't like talking about any of it anytime: partly because it wasn't something my mum was open about when I coulda used the heads up but more recently because I've moved past that and think it can be embraced in its own circles - like some kind of tribal ritual (probably a good socio-biological reason cycles synchronise among women who co-habitate)... which doesn't need to involve anyone else. I guess a part of that is leaning towards some kind of sacredness which would involve clearing the schedule and probably not running a marathon. But- kudos to those who wish to.
And along that line of thinking I actually think GST makes sense in the common pre-packaged ways of dealing with said bodily event, in the same way that pre-packaged food attracts the goods and services tax. There are other ways of being a food-eating uterine lining-shedding human without paying GST. But then I practically want to move into a cave so that would be part of my answer.
Now I'm trying not to feel slight embarrassment which is no one in particular's fault and further proves the point of the song I suppose - but I gotta ask - Micah was your House Red at all related to RangerDenni's song or have you just been listening to a lot of Keidis lately?!!!!!
Ah, yeah see y'all in New York. I'll be the anti-social hippie in the corner. It won't MEAN anything

Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
A lot of people don't want to talk about it. I was glad that Micah was supportive during the listening party. He did indeed do a song on the same topic and told me about it then. On Rd 3, I felt what I did was a risky move. It's not my normal M.O.PepperJane wrote:In response to RangerDenni's commentary in the lyrics department, to the Eggshells DJRD track. Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
I dunno - feels like a lot of Australian women are way too forthcoming/crass about this and many other things, and that puts me right off too! Though they're often not interested in having productive dialogue: just clamouring for entitlement. I largely dislike my own culture really!
Seems like it paid off it sure was a great track! I was remiss to not mention that beforeRangerDenni wrote: On Rd 3, I felt what I did was a risky move. It's not my normal M.O.

Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
I also have a lot of thoughts about (society's attitude toward) periods (and people who have them) but since I am not a period-haver myself I'm not always sure how to talk about it... my "House Red" entry was an attempt to normalize it a little bit within the context of a "sexy" song (we'll see... sexy songs are definitely not my forte). Not that periods are intrinsically sexual but so much of sexuality is so culturally constructed already so why not? Anyway here I am working on this song and then I hear DJ Ranger Den tackle the matter in a much more direct and daring and interesting way, which I think paid off great.RangerDenni wrote:A lot of people don't want to talk about it. Haha I forgot about that RHCP song entirely. Similar sentiment perhaps but very different sonics. As you can hear if they ever post the damn fight...PepperJane wrote:or have you just been listening to a lot of Keidis lately?!!!!!

Fight posted. Seems like the current bottleneck in the process is Fightmaster Jr.'s rock and roll lifestyle and how that interferes with him relaying to me the title from Deepthroat.MicahSommer wrote:As you can hear if they ever post the damn fight...

Came to this thread to hear some good round 3 music and chat. Threw up a little in my mouth. Closed my computer. poured gas on it. Lit it on fire. Moved to Canada.

Re: Nur Ein XI- Round Three
okay. I got a chance to start listening to this fight and you did a skillful job pulling off the sexy, the normalization of the issue, and the being respectfully-comical-without-mockery of This Thing. I applaud you. I liked itMicahSommer wrote:... my "House Red" entry was an attempt to normalize it a little bit within the context of a "sexy" song (we'll see... sexy songs are definitely not my forte)....

It's official, round 3 is Vom Fest 2016.
By the way, great songs everyone! I have to give kudos to bgm. That was a fantastic creative idea to use the electricity buzz rhythmically.
