Also worth noting, JB's band Menage A Garage will be playing at Don Pedro's in Brooklyn on 7/15.

If that's not your scene, you can also come check out Sidewalk that night. My buddy Bipolar Bradley will be premiering a rough cut of his film No Sequel (The first—and last— horror-satire-end-of-the-world-sci-fi rock musical) at 6, to be followed by performances by John C. Hall of King Missile's new band Unusual Squirrel, and Lorraine Leckie.

Good News!

The Cavedwellers will be in NYC for this show!
I am the limiting factor, I will make this happen.
On backing vocals and lead guitar (yours truly - glennny)
on Lead vocals and guitar - Lee
on Bass, coming down from upstate New York "King", (historians will know him from Daddy Bop)
on Drums, in NYC from the Bay Area (like myself)- The Prisoner (you may know him from Zipline)

I'm very excited about this. These guys are my best friends, we've been in countless musical projects together in various combinations over the last couple decades. The last time I think the 4 of us all played together was at a cabin in Lake Arrowhead in 1991, where we played 2112 in its entirety.

looking forward to seeing all the NYC people!

cheers
-glennny

PS Here's a song that will be in our set. Check it out, and clap along at the show:

That's great news Glennny.

So the line up currently looks like:
Sockpuppet
Holly Furlone
Jim Tyrrell
Niveous
Ben Krieger
Menage a Garage
Pepper Jane
Roymond
Cavedwellers
Octothorpe(?)
Kenka
The Howling Monkeys

And tomorrow morning, I visit the locale for the Saturday show to etch out the final details. If it all goes well, Saturday will be the smaller show. Saturday would be in Brooklyn and Sunday in Manhattan.

Octothorpe does not have any material ready for performance. You can nix us us from the schedule if you need the space. If you leave us in, you run the risk of me doing stand-up or something else equally unexpected.

Hey everyone,

SongFight Live in New York will be a two night event.

Night One (Saturday 7/16) will be at Mise-En Place in Brooklyn.

Night Two (Sunday 7/17) will be at Sidewalk in Manhattan.

Mise En Place is the smaller show. The space holds about 30. It will be quite nice for our more acoustic sets.

Sidewalk will be the place where we do the full bands and go loud. The space holds a lot more so please invite lots of people to the Sunday show.

I'm still working out the time with Mise-En but they are very flexible and we should have that settled tomorrow. Sidewalk, we have the place from 6 until 11ish.

Because of how it's less than three weeks before the show, I nominate this year's blank and blank be:

If that piano is at our disposal I would be very interested in playing a couple of tunes, but only If time allows. Please prioritize others.

Which one? The pianos at both venues are at our disposal.

When it comes to rehearsal space, Rivington Studios is a good space that's within walking distance of Sidewalk and is near the M train, which will take you directly to Mise En Scene. The rates on weekends are 50 bucks for a 3 hour slot.

Are we going to try to get a bulk rate deal on renting a practice space all day, with instruments available and so on? Because that would be great for those of us who are traveling without instruments, for example.

Either one, Niv. I am being super low maintenance here. The picture of the grand piano, though, kind of made we want to play...

*getting excited*
Though Hawaiian Airlines won't acquiesce to my meal requests and I don't know what blank and blank means... is that the title for our challenge song to reveal at SFL?
Everything is about perspective.

All the Songfight Live shows have a subtitle, for instance Songfight Hot and Bothered, Songfight Plain and Tall, Songfight Weird and Wired. So we needed a subtitle for this show. Now it's Songfight Touch and Go.

If possible, I'd like a SUNDAY slot; my Saturday timeline has suddenly become a little up-in-the-air. Will update.
