Hi All,

I'm not sure who to direct this to, so I'm just posting it here. It seems that my Like A Villain isn't in the Nur Ein Songlander Archive. Instead it plays Leaf's song. If there is any way to correct this, I would appreciate it. I will attach my song to this post so you don't have to go look for it.

Thanks!

Ken

Strange mix up but one that can be easily fixed (thanks to MG's nifty setup). I can do that tonight.

I can access the Nur Ein Archive fine on my ancient iPhone, but not on my less ancient Mac desktop. In both Chrome and Safari the Archive page comes up looking like the page below, and clicking the 'Archive' link just refreshes the same page:

How ancient? Can you provide your Mac OS X, Safari, and Chrome versions? I'm guessing if they are >4 years old then there is no hope for you. Just upgrade already. ;)

In case anybody wasn't clear, Manhattan Glutton wrote the code for that site. Some administrative duties have been given out to the operators of Nur Eins. But that's about it for folks who can manage the data and/or change the code, as far as I know.

I must not have phrased my issue clearly as I should have:

My ancient iPhone 3Gs, which currently runs on iOS 6.1.6 and has not been able to handle any software upgrades for years now, is completely able to access and navigate the Nur Ein Archive and play all of the songs therein.

My not-as-ancient Mac desktop is a 2013 iMac that is currently running mcOS Sierra version 10.12.5 (which I think is from this year), Safari 10.1.1 (from this year), and Chrome version 59.0.etc. This comparably up-to-date desktop cannot access the Nur Ein Archive and just returns that page I'd posted a screen shot of in the earlier post.

I'll just continue to access the archive on my iPhone whenever I need my Solo Frijoles fix.

I get the same issue in Chrome, but there's a little icon on the right of the URL bar that I can click on to "load unsafe scripts", and it then works properly. Looks like the issue is due to the page using http:// rather than the secure https:// when it loads scripts, which I guess modern browsers are fussier about than older ones? Hope that helps, anyway.

Thanks for the OS and browser versions. I missed that you said "Archive" and was going by what I thought was the URL in the screenshot that you provided, the home page. Seems like the home page is all fine, and I stopped looking there assuming it was your OS/browser versions. But the archive page is indeed fubared. The reason is because it has a "<base>" tag which for some reason is set to the plain http URL for the home page, rather than the https version. So as vowlvom pointed out all the resources get loaded over http which browsers block by default for pages loaded over https. Sounds like somebody needs to DM Manhattan Glutton and have him fix or remove the base tag. I'm not sure why it got added in the first place, seems unnecessary.

Thanks for the tip, that worked for me too.

I'll message MG the gist of these posts in case he doesn't check in here very often. In the meantime I'll continue to use vowlvom's workaround.

Perfect storm of things breaking things, I guess, because I haven't touched the site in months. It's resolved now.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Partly my fault after all, it turns out, as I contributed some HTML/CSS/JS for the archive page years ago and because I was working on that on the sly I had the base tag in HTML to get stuff to work locally, and I forgot to remove it. So it was a ticking timebomb in there waiting for a) the site to switch to HTTP and b) browser to switch to not loading the mixed content by default. :(

Dang it, I purposefully didn't throw you under the bus. :)

Anyway, I *am* (slowly) replacing the site. You can check out my test page by replacing 'titles' in the path. Example: http://nurein.songlander.com/test/7C86E ... B9F9195BD6

The test page is never guaranteed to work so let's keep this our little secret. I just figure people should know if they're listening regularly. Because the 1.0 site is kind of not amazing.
