It's "working" for me at this particular moment but it's kinda broken and has been down for much of the last few weeks. I run it on some servers that my brother owns that he has in a co-location facility/data center in Fremont, CA. The Monday before Song Fight Live there was a crazy electrical storm in the Bay Area, and the colo lost power and some part of my brother's setup got fried or something. While it's nice that I have free hosting on high powered servers with a good Internet connection, the catch is, my brother long ago moved out of the Bay Area and now lives in New York. When he has server problems that require hands on attention I wind up having to go down to Fremont to do the dirty work. This time though I couldn't do it because of Song Fight Live, then I got a bad cold. I finally went down there Sunday morning. So hopefully things are on their way to being back to normal. The remaining problem I am having with the Jukebox currently is that, something is preventing it from making a connection from songfight.org to download the latest new title and current fight, and update its archive with the info about the old fights. Consequently it's still showing the "Pray For Texas" fight, without that fight's results, and "The People's Republic" as the next title.

Sunday I went down mostly just to re-cable a bunch of stuff. Here's a small pic of what I was dealing with...

So, pretty much a standard rack situation. But it’s up and it rocks!

The Jukebox appears to have broken again. :/ Seems like it picked up the results for the "Tearing History Down" fight. But then before it could pick up the new title or the new fight something happened and it stopped being able to connect to songfight.org. I'm going to have to contact my brother who administers the server where I run the Jukebox to see wtf is going on and it will probably take a while to hear back. Oy.

Cool, glad you like it! It's meant to be kinda like the archive on steroids (or put another way, written 8 years ago instead of 15 ;) ).

Oh right, doh. I noticed last night I couldn't check my email, or connect to my servers' VPN. I checked with my brother, his server crashed. He's filed a support ticket with his hosting facility to have somebody go turn it off and back on again. It'll be back eventually.

Weird glitch I found in the jukebox- Gizo songs don't seem to be working. I can play them in the archive but they won't run in the jukebox. Weird.

Not just those. The other versions as well like Electro-Gizo, and Gizo vs. The Married Life.

Hm, ok. I have called in a more expert expert (aka fluffy :) ) to maybe help me spot what is going on here. I'm looking and so far I don't see a difference between what's going on with the working songs and the not working songs.

Those files aren't mp3 files, they're wav files containing mp3 audio. A few early encoders produced those. Many modern players still support it. jPlayer apparently does not.

All files are converted; most of them I was able to do without any loss, but one of these wasn't even mp3 audio and so I did a best effort at preserving the audio quality.

Now I want to go through the archive to see if there's any other files that aren't actually mp3s...

When you get a "network unreachable" error, the problem could be at any point between you and the server, but is probably not with the server itself, and most likely it's with your own local Internet connection. Unless the error you get is in the form of an HTTP error response (a three-digit error code followed by an often-inscrutable error).

FWIW, HTTP status codes are grouped by type, and there's five types. The only two that you as an end user care about are 4xx and 5xx; ones which start with 4 are "that's not available" and ones which start with 5 are "something's wrong with the server." If you get either of those kinds of error while browsing a website (especially 5-type ones) it's useful to provide the following information, from most important to least:
  • The full URL (which you can get by copy-pasting the location bar on your browser; make sure you get the whole thing!)
  • The time you accessed it (including local time zone)
  • The specific error message, and any additional information provided (like if there's a string of random digits or a specific error included)
  • What you clicked on to get there (i.e. the full URL of the page you got there from)
  • Your IP address, if you know it (you can use whatsmyip to get it although it might not necessarily give you the address the site operator needs, especially if you're on IPv6, or you can usually get it by logging into your router and looking for "public IP address" or the the like)
