The Orville

Post by AJOwens »

Anyone else watching this? It's sort of a Star Trek: TNG spoof, done with gentle wit and intelligence. Last night's episode was about a dystopian society run completely by Facebook-style likes and dislikes. As my wife said, "A cut above the usual crap on TV."

I watched a few of the episodes and I just don't get it. It isn't funny enough to be a spoof. It really just seems like MacFarlane wanted to be on Star Trek and when they didn't pick up his pilot, he changed it just enough to avoid copyright infringement and made it himself.
Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

i would just like to remind everyone that Ken eats kittens - blue lang

I came across it late; I've only seen "The Krill," "Majority Rule," and what I took to be a replay of the first eposide. It's not perfect, but it struck me as refreshingly irreverent, and "Majority Rule" was genuinely thoughtul -- along the lines of Black Mirror, but without the tiresome efforts of that show to be all dark and intense and gratuitously shocking.
