Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
Dear Judges,
This challenge sure lends itself to instrumental compositions.
Then right below it says "songs are due....."
By definition, a song has singing and lyrics.
So are all the judges okay with instrumentals for this round? ( Which seems to be the spirit, especially with all of the Eno talk and John Cage reference), or are we indeed expected to have a musical composition that includes vocals and lyrics thus rendering it a song?
Thanks!

Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
The references to Eno or Cage seem obvious, however I believe that the term ambience is as vague as the traditional definition given by Nur Ein to its challenges. In any case I will opt for music + lyrics, assuming the definition of song that you mention. The way I approach the challenge will be fought at the time, XDDglennny wrote: By definition, a song has singing and lyrics.

Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
Note, the challenge does NOT say "ambient" as in the musical style. It says "ambienCE".

I thought it said "ambivalence" and we were gonna be really moody.

Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
Hi guys, I've just sent 3:20 in. I've even posted the lyrics. I'm really starting to get my song fight big boy pants on. This week I've had my first go at recording on garage band. Took me a while to get the hang of it, I'm sure to get better. Looking forward to hearing this weeks crop of songs, good luck all.

Good. Now we just have to work on that bizarre “caravan ray” style strumming you do when playing liveB Mac wrote:Caravan ray, used gb on iPhone using built in mic

Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
Just finished my song. It's about a guy and girl who took a trip of whatever drug to then wake up at 3:20 AM in the middle of nowhere, wondering how they wound up there.
Oh, and it's more than twice as long as 3 minutes and 20 seconds. That's partly because it's very slow as well, though, about 66 BPM.
Hope you don't mind (sorry, judges!)

Mine is mostly about missing my cat, with some slight biblical overtones. I'm not saying my cat was better than Jesus, but I *am* thinking it quite loudly.

Well, by the looks of it, it seems the judges are getting what they asked for.

Re: Nur Ein XIII Round Two "3:20"
Sent.
My sources for the ambience were taken from this place full of sound treasures that is http://bbcsfx.acropolis.org.uk/ and a sound fragment of that indispensable piece of history of the movies that was "Kikcboxer 4", XDD
The song is about the incessant talk of a noisy audience in musical performances in small stages, and the consequent anger.
Its duration is 3:20, but I needed two more seconds to make room for the delay queue that was out there.
I hope you like it.
