Re: Free Plug ins
I saw that when I used their symphony plugin for Nur Ein. I downloaded a few LABS instruments but so far have only used their Drums instrument, which I think sounds awesome (limited number of pieces in the kit though but for me that's not a problem). I used it right away for the next two Moss Palace Nur Ein songs after the Bond theme round. I haven't had a chance to check out the other stuff, but some of it is a little weird/exotic, which is cool.

Yeah I've been having fun with Spitfire Labs stuff for years but I don't think I've ever actually finished a track with it.

Introducing Pendulate
A Chaotic Monosynth by Newfangled Audio
Free Download: https://www.eventideaudio.com/promo/pendulate
For those bored of the same old synth sounds, Newfangled Audio's Pendulate offers something truly new. Most synthesizers sound similar because they’re based on the same technologies. Pendulate is refreshingly different – a chaotic monosynth that uses a brand-new oscillator technique to create previously unheard sounds – biting basses, searing leads.
Pendulate is based on the physics of a double pendulum. What initially looks like randomness contains underlying patterns, interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization. The result is an oscillator that can smoothly fade from a sine wave to total chaos, with an expanse of territory to explore in between.

Rheem Key Bass VSTi - https://www.martinic.com/en/products/kee-bass
Bring some groovy, bassy vibes back from the ‘60s and straight into your music with our faithful emulation of one of the first monophonic string bass simulators, the Rheem Kee Bass.
Our Kee Bass VST/AU plugin is based on the original electronic schema and an actual physical Kee Bass. Firstly we modeled the instrument precisely (no sampling at all), then we added a few modern features to make it more versatile and unique, such as an extended range, a filter, and modulation.
And best of all… we’re giving you a license FOR FREE!

Re: Free Plug ins
I didn't scroll back but has the SonEQ plugin been mentioned? Some cool little features to it. I used it on the guitars for my "rolling in" submission and was mightily impressed. I tried to use it on the vocal and had less success. But then, I'd already processed the vox so I might need to start fresh for an honest perspective.

I got that Kee Bass mentioned above and I LOVE IT. It's going everywhere now. LABS has made its appearance in a couple of submissions and side pieces so far. Thanks for the recommendations!

Used any of them, yet? I like the controls on the reverb but I'm not sure I need anything until I learn a couple of the new(ish) ones I've gotten this year.

You have to sign up for their mailing list, but Cherry Audio is giving away a free MG-1 vsti. This is a virtual clone of the radio shack clone of a Moog. Should be cool:

I just got this loaded up and gave it a quick run. Sounds awesome and works great. Highly recommended if you are into Moogs and things that sound exactly like them.ken wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:48 amYou have to sign up for their mailing list, but Cherry Audio is giving away a free MG-1 vsti. Re: Free Plug ins
There's another clone of that same synth that doesn't require dealing with Cherry Audio's hurdles, and seems to have all the same stuff. I tried and liked both:ken wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:48 amYou have to sign up for their mailing list, but Cherry Audio is giving away a free MG-1 vsti. Re: Free Plug ins
owl mentioned using a trumpet patch from Labs recently and it reminded me to check out what they had made available lately. There's a _ton_ more free sample sets there now, and nearly all of them are super cool. I'm downloading a whole bunch now. For free samples they all sound amazing and the selection covers both some very common useful instruments as well as some very cool unusual sounds/soundscapes.

Free for a limited time (you get it now – you keep it forever):

There's a bunch of free stuff here, but the especially nice one in here is the RVK-808. Pretty simple straight forward 808-alike sample box, but it sounds nice and has features like distortion and decay/reverb control:

I haven't tried any of these yet but there's lots to dig in to.
MEqualizer - A nice graphical equalizer with some cool features like saturation control, a wet/dry knob, configurable window size for average EQ graph display, overlays for frequency range cheat sheets, harmonics, etc.
MWaveShaper - An easy to use waveshaper that gives you fine grained control, allowing you to make things like soft and hard clip distortion, saturation, compression.
MSaturator - A saturator with lots of configurable properties. Like the waveshaper but simpler and with more controls to emulate analog saturation.
MCharmVerb - A great sounding reverb with HPF/LPF capability as well as low-end and high-end damping in case you want the high and low end of the reverb to be muffled instead of gone.

This isn't plugins, but vom pointed me to https://pianobook.co.uk/ which is a place where people share free virtual instruments and I'm putting it here because it's free stuff for making music and it's awesome.

Re: Free Plug ins
I made my own automatic gain adjustment tool, "Level Rider". It adjusts levels according to an average loudness over time you can specify, up to a maximum adjustment in dB that you specify to try to match a target level in dB that you specify.
Here it is, for free, as an OSX VST and a Win64 VST3. I can try to build it in other formats if you would like to use it and can't use either of these.
