I'll be in for the optional challenge, but I'm not saying which hated song I've stolen a small recognizable bit from. It's a well-known loathsome tune, so it'll be fun to see if anybody spots it.

I'm in with a very short bit of calypso. The melody incorporates two bars of a song I hate, a very well-known one with a remarkable provenance. The optional challenge says it has to be a "recognizable bit," and the tune fragment is long enough and distinct enough to be readily recognizable, with no alterations in intervals or rhythm. The way I've set it up is another matter. There is one tiny clue in the lyrics.

in the interest of keeping myself honest and making sure I don't try to recycle any part of this in the next fight I actually manage to be in, I am revealing what I had recorded at the moment when I gave up trying to get something in before they post the songs.

I never was a able to come up with any lyrics, I just had a vague concept of, "a guy trying to get a girl to sleep with him by claiming that sex will give you magical powers, like being able to levitate, teleport, magic missile, summon elemental monsters, etc,, with many hints that it might be spoken by someone whose only knowledge of sex is from NSFW fan-fiction"

That sounds like a great concept! I would try to help, but I know nothing of NSFW fan fiction. The music reminds me fondly of open-mic jams.

It is exactly a jam. That’s captured early in the process when I’m just laying down some tracks to sketch out the general sound of the song. This would all presumably get re-recorded once lyrics were written. Notice the keyboard is literally just 1 bar looped for the whole 3 minutes. There’s also a place where I stop playing guitar to activate a pedal with my hand because the current recording setup has the pedals on a table for ease of knob twiddling rather than the floor. Very sketchy.
