Nur Ein XIX needs judges

Post by Niveous »

As we approach May and the oncoming Nur Ein, I find myself in a pickle- we need judges. Anyone interested in taking on the task?

For those of us who have never participated in Nur Ein, can you outline what one would be getting themselves into?

What being a judge entails:

You are part of a 5 person team who will have a group chat.

The team picks out the song title and song challenge for Round Zero

The contestants make songs (around 25 of them) fulfilling the challenge and using the title.

The judges pick out the title and challenge for Round 1.

The deadline arrives. The contestants receive the Round 1 challenge and title.

The judges receive the songs by Monday morning and listen to them all.

By Wednesday night, the judges should have ranked the songs from their favorite to their least favorite and given those rankings to me to be dispersed.

Judges are asked to give reviews. The contestants will love you for it.

The cycle continues throughout several rounds with a diminishing amount of songs going from ~25 to 25 to 20 to 16 to 12 to 8 to 5 to 2.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but each round is one week. So once the deadline hits you only have a couple of days to do your ordering and reviews. (Reviews from judges are optional but encouraged but see above.) There are 8 total rounds (0 - 7) So it's a two month commitment with pretty hectic weekends.

If you haven't visited the nur ein site here's the link: https://nure.in/ You can see the schedule of last year's challenge. And obviously you can visit the forums here to get a feel of the challenge.

I'm not saying all this to scare anyone off but you should know what you're getting into.

It's really not so bad. If I didn't (hope) to record and enter some music for Nur Ein XIX, I'd probably offer to judge again, but I'm looking for a double incentive (Song Fight! & Nur Ein Titles) to record some songs. The hardest part is probably coming up with a weekly "Challenge", but you can just do what I did and rely on the 4 other suckers *ahem* judges to hopefully come up with something interesting that you can agree with. ;)
