Fluffy, your track had me laughing out loud! That was a very creative approach, and right on target with what I was thinking about when I submitted the title. :) Nice work!

I've listened to most songs posted so far. There are some very cool ones among them. I'll write reviews when the circle is complete.

I, too, am waiting for the circle to be complete before I listen.

I've been listening as they've been coming in, so I've heard them all except for Mike Lamb and MC Who Izzy. I'll have some nice reviews for everyone once the circle is complete (and it's actually looking like the circle will be completed this time, so yay!).

EDIT: Actually, I just listened to Mike Lamb and Who Izzy. Izzy, you gotta turn your vocals up. Mike, yours is my new favorite. Really great songwriting, and you nailed that ending.

Yeah, I've been trying to get this mic to sound decent but i can't seem to do that and keep the vocals very loud half the time...it's annoying

I didn't think your track had half-too-loud vocals, though. To my ears, your vocals were buried throughout.

If you've been dealing with vocals that are either too soft or too loud throughout, then there's one of two things going on. Either:
1.) You're singing and rapping at inconsistent volumes and the mic is just picking up what it hears, or
2.) You've got automatic compression at some point in your audio chain and your voice is straddling one of its cut-off points.

If it's 1, then you might get better results by finding a good compression plugin. If it's 2, then you'll have to find where the compression is being introduced and either deactivate it or tweak the settings.

For what it's worth, though, I think the problem might be something else entirely: I think you might be mixing it too low semi-purposefully because you're embarrassed about your voice. First of all, there's the unconscious introduced because you already know what's being sung, so you don't think it needs to be as loud as someone who isn't already familiar with the words and melody. But then there's the whole psychological aspect, where you mix it to where it sounds best, and this sounds best because you might be aware that the vocals are not very strong, and you're (possibly) hoping that the music will mask that.

Could be I'm just presumptuous and way off the mark. Still, I'd like to hear the vocals louder on this one. Embrace your tonal shrillness and just go for broke on the performance, then for the production side of things, mix it so it's loud and clear. Easier said than done, I know, but your listeners will thank you!

(And psst. If you send in a revised version, I'll replace it on the site. :) )

Jan Krueger, I love your song. I was going to wait until I posted reviews to say that, but then I realized that it had been stuck in my head for like two days and I had to get it out there. I even downloaded it, which never happens.

So great work. My new goal is to create something that good.

Yours is pretty cool, too. :) But like everyone else you'll have to wait for the real review, in which I'll go all perfectionist and complain about all the little things even for songs that I loved.

Sorry nyjm, I haven't comented on your song yet because I told myself I can't listen until I submit mine. But I'm sure it's great as everything else you do. I've been busy as heck with work and my work isn't 9 to 5, so everytime I finally get started on my music, I get called away. UGH! 8)

No sweat. I've only listened to a handful (mine, duh; Paco's take on my title, which is awesome; and Milo Dunderville clearly channeling "Supersition.") I'm holding off until it's all ready to go (and there's a listening party, I hope!)

No, Jon, I have no idea why skipped yours, but now it's under the "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait" embargo. :)

Alright, work got in the way for BLT, and Denni has called in sick. No ETA on either yet. Also, expect a revision of my song with new vocals as early as tonight.

Since we don't have ETAs for the missing two songs, I'm thinking we can maybe throw a listening party tomorrow evening? Or would it be better to wait until we get to 100% compliance?

I'm of two minds. I like listening parties and I want to hear the great work everyone has done. But I'd also like to hear what everyone has done...

Well heck, we could always have two parties, right?

mikelamb and I will be at a show tonight, so we won't be around for a listening party, but I can still
set up the stream if people want.

Back again right-quick ...
Still workin' .. talked to the BLT and I know that he'd like a chance to finish. do not have ETA on him tho. He has been swamped. He usually gets things done quickquick I know - I think that interface thing threw him off the track as well as work swamps. I know ONE of my things was my roommate sitch'. No chance to breathe. Better now. I'm alone. finally. Back to it.
I know I don't really have the feet to say anything because I did also not do the finishing in the yet-time. But we will see soon-ish-ly :)

I'd like to be part of a listening party, but as Ir said, we're both booked tonight. Maybe tomorrow (Thursday) night? 7PM PDT?

Ok, and I have an engagement Friday night. (Social, not musical, but still quite immutable.) Denni, BLT, the extensions keep on rollin'. :P

Saturday? Saturday is way good.
