Songfight Tour 2008 Planning

Set up live gigs with each other, announce gigs you're playing around the country or whatever, talk about how the show went, post links to recordings, etc.

Damn, I still remember my password! Anyhow, I'd like to say if there's an interest in San Diego, I could look into booking on a weekend.
I'm late for the Winnie the Pooh convention.

We have L.A. It's Friday, March 28, at the Spot Café & Lounge (used to be Synergy Café; same site as last year). I'm looking into a San Diego venue tonight. Stand by.

Ok then!

I'm going to assume consensus on this, and post a revised schedule (Since Seamus' date knocks everything back one day):

3/27 - (Thursday) Either Orange County - hosted by Ross Durand or San Diego hosted by Seamus
3/28 - (Friday) Los Angeles - hosted by Stateshirt
3/29 - (Saturday) Either Orange County - hosted by Ross Durand or San Diego hosted by Seamus
3/30 - (Sunday) San Luis Obispo - hosted by Evil-E

4/2 - (Wednesday) San Francisco - hosted by Ken

4/4 - (Friday) Portland - hosted by Anti-M
4/5 - (Saturday) Seattle - hosted by Spud
4/6 - (Sunday) Spokane - hosted by Glenn Case
4/7 - (Monday) Moscow - hosted by Marcus Kellis

Let's consider these dates FIRM unless someone has a convincing enough whine / whinge to implore me to change 'em.

(And I'm not much on whining.)

(Ken, could you revise the top post of the thread to reflect this latest and greatest?)

I'll start looking in earnest for a Portland venue for 4/4. Shouldn't be too hard.

Rad, rockers!

Well, I'm not volunteering to host one or anything. :) I just thought one was being considered. If not, no big deal.

This schedule is definitely fine for me. Looks like I'll be doing San Francisco thru Seattle, maybe Spokane as well. Anyone else from the SF area want to do a carpool/roadtrip thing?

who besides me and fluffy would consider playing a show in santa cruz?

chime in.

this will impact on whether i pursue this. if it were to happen, i'd try to slot it between the SLO show and the SF show.

Still need to take a close look at the dates here. I would be willing ot be a contact, etc.... But honestly have no idea where to start working on looking for a place to play- having not done regular live stuff in 8 years or so.

Chris do you know any places?

Where the hell did you get that avatar?

I checked out a space in San Diego today that might work. The owner was rushed so she asked me to request a date by email, so here I go. I'm sayin' 3/27.

Ross, your idea about the park which you mentioned to me earlier through voice communication was intriguing.

Yes, thanks for the reminder - I'll look into that.

Santa Cruz is very possible for the Zipline clan. I imagine most of the bay area bands wouldn't mind.

thanks for chiming in glenny. yeah, i know there's a lot of local songfighters who might consider playing a show here, but then again it will most likely be on a weeknight, and another show in the city is being considered for the next night, people may decide they would go to the city show but not come here.

at least for us local working stiffs, it might be hard to play 2 weeknight shows without taking time off.

just trying to gauge the barometric pressure here....

O.K. I see that the schedule has firmed up. I will start working on a Seattle venue for Saturday, April 5, 2008.

Query to people coming...does the venue have to allow minors(under 21)?

Not for me! Not anymore!

I'm starting work on April 7. Glenn Case hasn't said anything about a Spokane show, but my preferred venue is closed on Sundays. So... April 7, Moscow, Idaho. I'll check it out today.

Looked into a San Diego show for 3/27, awaiting response. I checked out this place in person, and while the stage and sound system are adequate, I don't get the feeling I can trust the owner to let rock such things as drums and bass amps. There is one other venue that is worth a visit. Hang on.

We should create last.fm event pages for the different tour stops. Here's San Francisco. I'm pretty sure anyone can add bands to it.

(Oh, damn, I just noticed I'm going to have to miss Autechre at the Mezzanine. Oh well.)
