Hey Spud,
I wish I could come and enjoy the show on the 5th, but I'll be out of town that weekend. Bummer. Anyway, how about throwing up some titles for this week? I promise to submit some amazing trash in honor of the tour that I'll be missing!
P.S. Maybe you guys could put out a webcast of the show(s)? That would be awesome!

That's too bad...
But another Seattle show in the near future would be nice...

Absolutely. I am all for another show. And another. And another. The owners of the Ould Triangle are already feeling like they owe us another shot, having screwed us this time around. We shouldn't let that sit there for too long, or it may go away. As I have posted elsewhere, we will start working on that one after we return triumphant from THIS one.

OK, seeing what Ken and anti-m are doing over in those other threads, I feel compelled to ask people about the length of their sets and the order in which they would prefer to play. In no particular order, we have so far, the following bands in Seattle:

Glenn and Rachael
Sockpuppet
Octothorpe
Mico Saudad
Primitive Screwheads
I have an inquiry in to Klownhole, but they are unlikely.

No Merisan, no Marcus. Boo Hoo. Kill Me Sarah, aren't you around here somewhere? Yeah, I see it there. Tacoma. Come on out!

We can play as long as we want, pretty much, so I am not worried about running over, just planning.

I'd like to do Radio Ready with a full band assuming we can scrape together a drummer for that and a Marcus (I have no idea how we're going to pull that off without the actual one).

And as long as I had a drummer I might like to do Plaisir la Porc, but we'll see.

but other than that I think I'm just going to do g+g,

so in the interest of wit, I'll make my set brief.
and you can put me on wherever.

Rabid might be able to pull of a reasonable Marcus. Or maybe even me. I will give it another listen as I practice it and let you know.

Marcus was on drums. And on the yelling.

Clearly I did not know that. I can yell too.

Yes, I am out here now and was intending to come, though not sure I'll participate. The recorded versions of my songs are usually the "good" versions and most people aren't too thrilled with those, so I wasn't planning on aurally assaulting everyone with my live versions :D

Also, I don't want to speak for him, but I did get a txt from Frisbee the other day saying he wanted to participate. He doesn't lurk around the boards much except for the reviews, so he hadn't heard about it.

Live performances can completely suck and still be a lot of fun. I completely hate the recordings of my set (and the other sets I ruined) at Austin but other people seem to have enjoyed experiencing it (possibly via schadenfreude).

I didn't know half of what I was playing during your set, but I was having fun trying to guess. That's my fault for trying to play in 11 of the 20 sets that were scheduled.

It's okay. My set wasn't much better in the audio department. Karma came back and bit me in the ass when my bass player didn't remember that he was my bass player. (Erik's still freaking awesome.)

Speaking of which: Did I read somewhere that you were wanting me to play bass on Gin or Ginseng? Do you need me to play anything during your set? I don't have a million songs to learn this time, so I might do a better job, but I had better start practicing soon if I am going to be helping out.

ROCK!

You know the bassline to Gin or Ginseng. I know you do. I am sure you practice the Super Mario Bros. theme all the time. The bassline for Gin or Ginseng is the bassline to that. (Consult the Santa Cruz recordings for reference. Only play it how it is in the video game, not like Spud's weird polka rendition.)

Somewhere I have a recording of the particular bassline I like for it but I will probably just record it anyway. Actually I'm in a lull at work so I could do that now. So I will do that now.

Yeah fluffy if you'd like to play drums and do some yelling in Portland and Seattle, give our version of Radio Ready a jingle and ask it if it wants to play.

There are two types of calls that Marcus did perfectly that I *must* have:

1. and "throw your hands up" 0:30-0:34
2. the "we don't care if we're radio ready or not" 3:10-3:35

What I love about it is the loose happy vibe it gives. I don't think I could pull that off unless I was drunk. But power to you if you can. Or if you're drunk.

Frisbee and I are for sure coming. Still iffy on whether we'll perform or not. He has lots of acoustic gems he can pull off on his own so maybe he can be convinced. The only songs of mine I'm particularly fond of are the fuller "band" ones like All Tan which is hard to pull off with just a guy and guitar.

It was a lot of fun. Some friends of mine who came said that it was the best free show they'd seen in a long time. Having gone with them to see the Dan Band and Ray LaMontagne and the Decemberists I can't really fault them for adding the 'free' caveat. They gave a medal of commendation to the Primitive Screwheads, and were all around impressed with how close the songfight community seemed.

As for me it was great to meet some really nice new people as always, and nice to get up on stage and let loose for a bit. Thanks so much to Spud for his organizational skillz (that's right, with a 'z'!), even in the face of adversity.

I'm ready to do it again when we can drag you and the rest out, Sam...
