It's a file with "Content-type: audio/x-mpegurl" that contains, one per line, each mp3 link in order. I generally generate them via a cgi script, but I think it could be just a file also that's named something.m3u.

Bad news to balance the good news: I'm officially dropping out. I put in some overtime last weekend and cleared my schedule this week in an effort to maximize my AWWWTF'ing time, only to have it all blow up in my face when the deadline changed on a big project at work. Now, add visiting family and that I'm suddenly moving on top of that, and this is officially The Week From Hell.

To make up for bailing, I pledge to review all your AAW songs, starting tomorrow.

Well at least we won't have that "Nur Ein!" guy to kick us around anymore :-)

I got a few more minutes done tonight. I think I'm up to about 24 minutes and 24 hours left (for me).

Oh, and I did another twist - I haven't been too good at that so far.

I didn't copyright it :) Plus you'd probably do it a whole lot better than I ever could. So set your synth to 'swoop' and get recording that last ten minutes!

To make a stream in Windows, open notepad, write a list of the locations of your files, one on each line, using HTTP:// in each address. Once finished save as [name].txt . Then using windows explorer, find the file and rename it as [name].m3u . [I have encountered problems occasionally in the latest versions of XP where it will try and rename it [name].txt.m3u - if you have this problem download the free version of Better Rename and choose rename entirely]. Upload this file and link to it.

I don't know how to do it on a Mac.

As I'm obviously struggling (that's an understatment), no excuses I've just completely dried up, spent yesterday evening finding loads of other things to do other than anything remotely musical (even digging the garden and I hate digging the garden...)

with all that in mind, here's an instrumental that was going to have lyrics originally, but... (see above!)

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic spOOns - The Countdown

And this would be the intro track to the album that wasn't

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic spOOns - Telephone

I'm away from a computer/guitar/recording stuff for the next two days(well, other that what the people onstage will be using :P). I do have about 40 minutes of new songs with almost all the twists (about 15 songs, I think), but I'm not gonna be able to record it all on Sunday. So I do have a Live Album A Week, but not a Recorded Album A Week :P I love the challenge of AADs/AAWs, and even though I rarely finish them there are always at least an extra few songs to add to my repetoire(that was a Jeopardy answer last nigt, by the way).

Why am I chuckling at this?

Lets get simple here: On a mac, go to the Songfight front page. Click on the stream all button. Open the .m3u file that just downloaded in textedit (or the word processor of your choice). Change the urls that you see to the urls of your songs, one per line. Save file. Rename file to whatever you want, keeping the m3u suffix. Upload to your server. Post link in thread, and Bob's your uncle.

I'm finished my ghost vocal tracks, so I can delete my demos now! Time to start on the acoustic stuff! Then I get to do bass! Then I get to do drums! Then I get to do real vocals!

Life is good. Kind of.

Here's another Instrumental (underline the mental bit!), that probably qualifies for the drunk twist and the landscape twist...

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic spOOns - Theme from Planet Hulk

... and this which is basically the last bit of finished stuff I've got...

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic spOOns - The TV's On

So far 18:35 (not a hope in hell... still, pushing on!)

Ending: Midnight Eastern/9pm Pacific (That's the night of Sunday 22nd/morning of Monday 23rd)
I plan on posting my stuff no later than Monday night my time (I think that will be early Monday morning in NY). I will fininsh all the songs tomorrow then burn to CD and give them a final check in the car on Monday before posting. The cold I caught has knocked me way off schedule now - I will remix what I have and see what I've got. I thinks I will still come in fairly close to the 35 min mark

I must admit, I did wander away from the twists quite a bit - especially the #9: Write a song about another band or musician, but don't mention their name - I misread that and wrote a song that mentions Andre Was Here At Midnights name - but isn't actually about him in any way.

Okay, another night of work leaves me at 29 minutes or so [so close, and yet...]. I'm headed to the mountains tomorrow, so don't be surprised if what you get is a 6-minute Luke Henley tribute that I make up as I go and sing live into the built-in mic on my Mac.

This is quite a project. So far going well except that I need a real backing band for the last tack, not up to the standard of the rest of the record so far, I think. But I'm proud of my eclecticism, and one of the twists solved my writers block tonight, so that's good.

I suck at this song a day stuff. I was hoping it would kick in, but it didn't. I'm doing song fight, and the world, a favor by not submitting what I have so far,

So as predicted it's now looking highly unlikely I am going to finish. I have another 10/11 minutes of music recorded, and bits and pieces for enough to make it more or less, but I have run out of time to finish them, and I don't want to put up sub-standard (my standard, that is) stuff. So never say never, if tomorrow opens up in a way that is condusive to croonin and/or rockin I will keep on keeping on. But it's unlikely.

If you have any finished material, you should send it in. I for one want to hear what you've got so far.

I think I'll be in with a mostly/all guy-n-guitar AAW. I have done the "two chord" twist, but to flesh out the AAW, I will try some more twists now. I've got 24:13 so far. I should be able to come up with 11 minutes or more without arbitrarily lengthening songs. But I think I'll try to experiment a bit with the remaining time.

so far I've got many songs in my "usual" style, but also a blues tune, an "acoustic metal-type" song, and a spaghetti western jam. I need to do a rap song, but we'll see what happens!

Stats?
Longest song so far 4:14,
shortest: 1:17
songs: 9
takes: most songs have only 2 or 3 takes, and some only 1 take! Recording quality-wise, it shouldn't be that far of a departure from my regular solo stuff. ;)

I now have over 35 minutes! Now all I have to record is a few tracks of horns, all the drum tracks and all my vocals! By the end of tomorrow.

I'm screwed ...

I am so full of shit.

I have 6 songs completed, and one almost finished. This will add up to just over 20 minutes. I have culled a few things I did (I know that is against the rules - but that's just the sort of guy I am baby - rules are meant to be broken) and a few songs planned out, that I just never got a chance to record.

I'm up to 33 minutes, and I've made some crazy shit! I've made two twists in one: using chords from existing song using my own melody AND imitating someone else... at the same time (2min 29sec)! I also made an experiment with a chant (52 sec), an industrial song (1min 39sec), and a piece that could only be described as "a super sad layering of insanity" (2min 35sec)!
