For those who don't know, Brother Machine was a long ago fighter who was an excellent and amazingly talented person. I think the only time I ever saw him was at the very first Song Fight! "in real life" event I went to, 15 years ago, a "Song Fight! Presents" show that Ken organized at a little venue in San Francisco featuring Brother Machine, Ken and the New Incredibles, MC Frontalot, and many more (anybody remember the full lineup?). Brother Machine was so loud but also really great. I've had the chorus of one of the songs from that night in my head off and on ever since. "Break some shit. Steal some shit. Let's start a riot!"

His real name was Seth Gibbs. He recently found out that he had late stage cancer and passed away this last week.

Definitely check out his entries:

I'll be posting another thread about doing a tribute/Hxaro.

Apparently he and Frontalot were friends and would hang out when Front was in Austin. Front posted a tweet here about Seth:

Thank you for sharing that. That show was the first SongFight! event I ever attended, and that set totally owned the night. I will never forget his command of the crowd in the “Let’s Start A Riot” finale. Rest in peace, brother. You are missed.

Here's another brief mention, with some YouTube embeds of live in-studio performances:

I just now checked out the link on the front page to "We are all connected" and it's pretty damn good. Gonna have to participate in the pre-sale, I think.

I forgot to mention that I received this vinyl in the mail last week. I've yet to spin it, but I'll be doing so soon.

Can I just say that thanks to Nivs including BM's "Space Cadet" in his SF favorites playlist - which Tommy G was spinning at the Nur Ein listening party - I have been delving into Seth Gibbs' various back catalogs and I am frigging obsessed. I feel like I did when Amy Winehouse died and I had never heard her music, and I finally listened to it, and I instantly fell in love with her and then also had to grieve her death. RIP Seth. I am so damn sorry. Am also sad that I never got to meet him. What a powerhouse and tragic fucking loss.
