Assuming it’s a dreamhost problem... unpredictably logged out with internal server error. When I refresh after the error, I am logged out.

I'll check the logs to see if there's anything particularly interesting in there.

All I see is that you have, in fact, gotten some 500 errors. Nothing more interesting than that unfortunately.

As far as I know no configuration has changed and I don't see anything particularly weird in the logs. Weirdly, I'm unable to log in to the admin control panel to see if there's anything odd going on with the sessions table. Hmm.

Looks like another fucking search bot is DoSing the server through some overeager spidering. Sigh. Gonna do some IP banning...

Yep since I responded 20 minutes ago, got a 500 and was logged out. I’m wondering if the session is stored in memory or keyed on process ID in temp, so when php-fcgi dies, so do sessions. But it seems nobody else is complaining about this? Thanks for looking into it.

The longer 500 was because I was inspecting the sessions table and the DoS behavior of the bot was causing some massive database contention, or something. I've banned the DoS-y bot and purged the sessions table and everything seems back to normal, so now everyone will have been logged out but hopefully things will run better for a while.

Ugh, I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on. phpBB is due for an upgrade, incidentally, but I’ve been asked to wait until Nur Ein finishes.

This is still happening pretty frequently. I’d say maybe every hour or less. I know we are all busy; just want to keep it on the radar.

For example, I was logged out already since that comment. Just put my phone in my pocket for a few minutes.

Is it only happening to you on your phone? Since no one else has chimed in here, which I assume they would if they were having the problem, due to how super annoying it would be, then I'm wondering if it's just your browser/device/account, etc.

Yeah I've had no problems. I ticked both the "stay logged in" box and the "randomly log Grumpy Mike out" boxes and both seem to be working perfectly.

I'll bring my laptop to practice and maybe I can try debugging this if it's something that can be reproduced. I don't know what would be causing it for you and only you though.

Ya it’s only on my phone. I’ve been logged in for 12+ hours now without really changing how I do anything.
