Happy Halloween to all that observe and celebrate! What are you getting up to tonight?

We're having some folks over for snacks and to give out candy to trick or treaters. We'll probably dress up. And we've got a storage bin of random costume components for any guests who show up without a costume.

About to turn on the lanterns for the kiddies! It's been raining literally all day, which is ugh, but hopefully they'll still come knocking!

Got the full-sized candy bars for the kiddies ready. In my neighborhood they start pretty early, so we'll probably turn on the spooky welcome lights at 4pm Pacific today. Considering having a tray of Fireball whiskey shots for the parents at the ready.

Moved one of the HomePods down by the door and Siri is playing a random halloween playlist for me. I Put A Spell On You is 100% chef’s kiss.

I'm setting up a projector in my car port so that I can hopefully show random fun Halloween cartoons on loop with a bowl of candy next to the projection screen, so that the kids don't bother me while I enjoy Halloween fun in VRChat.

Turning off the light and hiding. To be fair we haven't had more than a handful of little ones in years. Also, STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!

That being said, we have a little bit of candy for the little guy next door and "just in case" someone comes up to the house. Also, I might watch Solaris.

Here's my carport theater setup; it's just a crappy projector I got off eBay a decade ago, a Raspberry Pi, and a single white curtain panel I got at a thrift store for Reasons. It's too bright out right now to see the projection but in an hour and a half or so I should be able to finish setting the focus and so on. The weenie little speakers on the projector aren't great though.

We had my dad and sister over and a couple we've met here through a college friend of mine. Erin made way too much food, mostly setting out a large spread of snacks. I made apple cider ginger Moscow mules. We wore our woodland creature onesies that we got last year. I set up our Amazon Alexa Tap out on the bench out front, hidden behind our pumpkins, playing spooky sound effects. It kinda seemed like we had fewer trick-or-treaters this year but we still managed to give away nearly all the 200 pieces of candy we bought. It was super fun!
