i think dogs tend to be favored by more needy people, because they seem to be needy animals (in the sense of attention), while cats seems much more independent and slightly aloof, which often times seem to also describe their owners. and cats are not really domesticated animals by nature so which one makes a better slave to the need of a human would favor the dog.
go ahead. flame me.

Cats can be pretty vicious too, Rone... I can't get this picture outta my head, where one of my cats swiped the head clean off of a chipmunk in one fell swoop. Also, dogs are only dangerous if you let 'em know you're scared. But yeah, cats are superior, even though dogs are sometimes more fun to play with.

well, keeping the damn thing alive should be good enough to earn its love. without you he wouldn't eat. hell, he'd be in an animal shelter, on the way to the incinerator.Mogosagatai wrote:Dogs have that unswerving loyalty thing. What's up with that?!? Unconditional love is a trait harbored by ignorant animals. You have to work for a cat's love, and that's how it should be.
dogs are just way pleasant and you can run around and play with them. all you can do with a cat is dangle a friggin' string. no sirree. that's just boring.

Dogs warn of enemies and protect.
Cats will eat you soon after you die, should you be left to rot. (still not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing, depending on how much you love cats and wish to be part of their life sustanence)
All this said, I grew up with a cat, and sort of like cats better.. and it's a tough decision....
In the end I like certain types of dogs more than cats. So dogs win. This time, at least.

No - cats are far more vicious. I have 2 dogs and a cat - and the cat is definitely the nasty one. Already cost me $200 this year in vet bills after what she did to the cat next door.Rone Rivendale wrote:Cat definatly. Dogs are vicious creatures by nature.
My big dog (maremma sheepdog) has been known to take his house-protecting duties a litte far - so far I've seen him ice 2 bandicoots and 3 ring-tail possums (including one with babies in the pouch - I saved them). But as far as total body count goes, the cat's collection of lizards, small snakes and various rodents is way ahead.
My dog though did once kill a red-bellied blacksnake right outside my kitchen door while I was away and my wife was home alone. So for that - he can kill all the possums he likes as far as I'm concerned.
So, I vote "dogs". Mainly because some dogs can be taught to say "sausages", sort of, which cats can't do.

And that's why Cats get my vote. Plus, my cats Owen and Ninja are such bastards. They can be sneaky, underhanded and very sly. I like that.boltoph wrote:Cats will eat you soon after you die, should you be left to rot.
