Oh, and yeah, I'd concur that you need a stop in Southern Oregon between the Bay Area and PDX. Perhaps Ashland? I've always wanted to check out Ashland...

...Or maybe Eugene...

Spokane-Seattle is pretty leisurely. Four hours or so. Spokane-Moscow is two hours, and in April it should be similarly leisurely.

I could probably do nights 1, 2, and 3. I assume it would be okay to hit only some of the shows.

Yeah I think you should at least shift the Day of travel for the Berkeley to Portland Trip.So it would look like:

Friday- 3/23 San Diego, CA - hosted by Seamus
Saturday- 3/24 Los Angeles, CA - hosted by prayformojo/State Shirt
Sunday- 3/25 San Luis Obispo, CA - hosted by Evil-E
Monday- 3/26 Bay Area, CA - hosted by Ken
Tuesday- 3/27 Bay Area, CA - hosted by Ken
Wednesday 3/28 Travel Day
Thursday- 3/29 Portland, OR - hosted by Rabid Garfunkel
Friday- 3/30 Seattle, WA - hosted by Octothorpe
Saturday- 3/31 Spokane, WA - hosted by Glenn Case
Sunday- 4/1 Moscow, ID - hosted by Marcus Kellis

I'm down for the San Diego, LA, Bay Area shows for sure, and there's a good chance I'd do the Portland and Seattle shows too. I have a lot of Southwest credit, I'd probably jet set it. But who knows, still thinking about it all.

Seattle is possible for me, but I still have school. Being young is good and bad for music. I'll think about it.

If those dates get confirmed you can count me in for at least half of the tour. Probably I'd fly into San Diego (or the Bay area leg) and drive with people the rest of the way.

I'm looking forward to meeting the newer songfighters I haven't met yet, especially after having flaked out on SFL06.

Sam, Ken, et al, what's the word so far? I am poised, I say poised, to leap into action once names start committing to this tour, burning cds and hitting venues up...

When I say poised, I mean I've done a bunch of legwork and have a primary and alternate venue in mind and ready to approach (and the connections there to vouch that I'm not a complete flaky lunatic), and picked up some extra musicians for p++, but can't go much farther at this point without a package to shill.

I've got a few committments on people willing to participate. I'll make some phone calls and see how many of these dates are possible. Overall, I say we do this thing.

I will start looking for a venue as soon as this schedule is finalized.

Octothorpe will try to make at least one stop to either side of us, and I personally should be able to make more of them. Time to hone my solo act, I guess. :)

Hey Folks,

Things are looking good to make this happen.

Just a couple of things I wanted to get out in the open:

1. Please think about how you can be the next show. It would be great if people added the next show or planned one before the first. Each show is a link in a chain that could go on and on.
2. All ages venues can not be guarenteed.
3. You may not be able to play every show.
4. Type of venue can not be guarenteed. We may play at bars, coffeeshops, or in someone's livingroom. Prepare to be flexible.
5. I want to also mention something about not guarenteeing a place to sleep or a ride. Everyone will be pretty much on their own, but we will work together to make this happen.

Let's get to work!

Be well,
Ken

I could do the San Diego and Los Angeles shows, but I simply must ask: what's the minimum live performance talent level required? I've got the live improvisational singing thing down from days of yore, and I did time with a few bands "back in the day" but I'm rusty as hell. Plus, you know, it'd be with a ukulele.

On second thought, maybe I should concentrate on busking outside...

In all seriousness, though, what's the expectation?

so long as you make an effort, practice practice PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE for ~6 weeks leading up to it, and think you can do well enough, you'll be welcomed with open arms. at least, that's my experience. your mileage may vary.

That you play some of your songs from Songfight is a recognizable fashion.

One piece of advice, if you suck, play for a short amount of time.

Hey Ken! I'm obtuse and don't quite understand item number one here. "Think about how you can be the next show."? Do you mean "think about attending the show immediately following the show in your home town?"

More info, please!

I think he's saying, if you're in the path of destruction (aka the tour) try to add a date in your hometown. Or something.

You're in for the PDX show, yes Auntie? On the short list for venues are 1) The Bitter End (by PGE Park) and 2) The Green Room (over in NW 23d).

Still have to get a firm "go fer it" from Ken & Co, but I'm solid for the Portland leg.

Yes. RG speaks for me. I'm encouraging people to keep this tour idea going. What town is 4 hours from Moscow? 4 hours before San Diego? This train could keep a rollin' all night long!

RG: You have a green light. GO!!!
