Wow, that's awesome! I hope that goes great and you have a blast.

Thanks again for all your help with the little details of the site, like the review threads and cover art. Don't worry if you have less/no time for that stuff though. Hopefully you'll have time to get a song in now and again still.

Where is the traditional bumping of the thread?

...but the universe isn't answering my phone calls right now.
It was great seeing you and meeting Spud in December. We had a great time. I hope you're doing well.

So I have news in my life. I'm a college student again after 27(ish) years. It's weird. And strange. And overwhelming. And kinda cool, too. I'll be around still but maybe not as much. Or maybe just as much. It probably depends on what courses I'm taking. If I disappear sometime in the next 16 months then I intend to come back no later than May/June 2023, but I think that I can manage some album art entries and an occasional song entry. We'll see.
I’m doing much better now, thanks.

And that’s amazing news! What are you studying? Good luck with it.

Thank you, both. I'm finishing an English degree with an emphasis on Poetry. Two classes a semester (including the summer) and I should graduate in May 2023. Only one is in person, though, and that's this semester. Very stressful but I'm already acclimating so I hope it gets easier as we go.

That's very cool! More poetry should be good for your songwriting, and English is just good for life. I decided a while ago to only hire people who I thought were good writers, even for civil engineering positions.

Super cool! Is the emphasis more on reading or writing poetry (or both?)

Writing about poetry mostly. Not so much criticism, but close reading and exploring perspectives etc., I thought about the creative writing depth of study but it'd take more classes and I don't want to take too long to get back to my real hobbies.

One of the courses I'm going to try and take next spring is basically an internship in publishing. I'm hoping that is as informative as it sounds.

Good for you for schooling it up, Piggy. Bravo and good luck, should be quite rewarding.

Classic Nor'easter coming in tonight. 2+ feet of snow, hurricane winds, a literal blizzard and required to go to work at the height of it tomorrow. Yucko. How's your weekend looking? :)

We were supposed to get 18"-24" but only got about 12", so... weekend was good.

Oh, that's good. Official total in my town was 19". Some towns did indeed get 30, so there's that. Most luckily, I wasn't forced into extra shifts at the hospital. Phew! Big storm, though, and very cold. Stay safe!

Highlights from the past several months:
  • I quit my job in June and have no plans of working full-time ever again if I can help it
  • My condo finally sold a few months ago so I've got plenty to live off of (see above)
  • I'm getting my kitchen remodeled right now as we speak and hopefully will have an amazing kitchen in a few weeks (compared to the shitty kitchen I had until a few days ago and no kitchen at all right now)

Lowlights from my miserable existence (which is a complete lie, I am very blessed and should be more positive in my communication but I feel overwhelmed so...)

- Still taking college courses and while I thought the summer was extremely hard, this fall is much, much worse.
- Still on pace to graduate in May 2023.
- I have been accepted into the publishing internship/study program which is exciting.
- The family is doing well and the job is okay so I'm actually doing pretty darn good in the important aspects of life.

In other news, I have learned how to be a good student and I now sympathize with all those students who I dismissed because they complained of the stress they were under while getting straight A's. I like to think I'm fairly empathetic (at least, I consciously try to be) but in this case (among others, I'm sure) I was just a dunce. There's no pressure like the pressure we put on ourselves. My peers have nothing on me.

RIP Twitter. Apparently once the World Cup starts (Saturday night for Americans) usage is going to skyrocket supposedly and with basically no one left to maintain anything it seems like it's going to start falling apart. But who knows?!
