I look forward to this fight ... I love my song, but there's one section where the vocals are just TERRIBLE. Man - I'm pretty sure about half of you will stop listening and move on once you hit that section.

Not that I take pleasure in your dismay, but at least now I'm not the only one. Solidarity, bro!

The holidays won out. Now I'm late on my usual Wednesday's Song which was going to be Credible Threat. It's mostly laid out. Is it kosher to use this track for next week's title? Don't want to cheat.

If you don't want to cheat - don't tell people you're cheating. It is kosher to do what ever you want - just so long as you don't get caught doing it.

Santa Claus is always watching.

Arguably, so is God.

Anyway, it's technically cheating, but only once has it been an issue with the FMs (When Jim of Seattle's project W-2 and the Temps very publicly took about a month to work on a song). Others have gotten away with it. C'est la vie. Once I knew a song had done this, so I refused to review it. Now I think that was pretty pompous of me. And I did the same thing myself later, for a song that got pretty good reviews.

I guess it's like speeding on the freeway. Or rolling stops at a stop sign. Or maybe I'm rambling.

From the FAQ: Write a song based on the title of your choice. Songs written before the title was announced are not eligible for competition. No covers are allowed, unless you are so creative with it that we can't tell it's a cover.

Here are some questions to think about:

Do you feel this song is already written, before the next titles have been announced? If not, at what point would you think your song was written?

Is the most appealing part of songfight (for you) the captive audience who will listen to your songs, or getting to show people what kind of song you can create in a limited amount of time?

No, I mistyped. They're free to leave. I meant something closer to "captivated", unless I meant something closer to a third word.

Fair enough. I'll start a new one from scratch. The other will remain A Credible Threat, tho not in competition. I had the chorus written and a verse chord progression. After the deadline I tracked it save for vocals since I didn't write any verses yet. Let's keep it honest!

Mike...uh. My correction, but obviously it's a weiner joke. The clarification of your name made it less clear or I'm just as stupid now than then, heh.
