At least the first night we had dual laptop recordings from different mics, so hopefully one of them came out ok.

It seems to me that that call is up to you. If it were me I'd say yes. Two separate titles posted in succession with different due dates. The second title posted after the first was due. They look like serial entires to me. Not parallel.Lord of Oats wrote:Would that also mean that I have to enter in order to maintain my streak of continuous entries?

Dude, you just blew my mind...especially with the double "that that".Steve Durand wrote:It seems to me that that call is up to you. If it were me I'd say yes. the song titles were both prefaced by A:.Lord of Oats wrote:Would that also mean that I have to enter in order to maintain my streak of continuous entries?
if the two titles were going to be considered as a group, i would think that the second one would be labeled B:.
so i say, yeah, if you don't enter this one, you lose your streak.
my continuous streak, however, goes back to last april with the "Clause 5" fight. it'll be a year here for me pretty soon, which would be about 51 weeks longer that i thought i'd be here.

I actually think that that "that that" that that Songfighter said was kind of forced. 8)king_arthur wrote:And yet it seems that that "that that" - that it really was necessary in this context.

how adorable...
I'm working on something for Cute Boots. I really like that that title for some reason.

Lockheed symphony is in here. I've never really been much of a songfight streaker, even though I'm not sure if my songs are revealing enough for you to care, but I'm pretty sure that my longest streak was all of three fights. I've done that three times, I think (ottoman-anomaly, night terrors-and counting) (just to be difficult-the last year). Actually, the only one of those that I used the same band name each time was the last one. Whatevs.

My first twenty-six weeks of Songfighting were all consecutive, comprising something like 75 different songs, including all the collabs and stuff. I probably could have done even more, but I intentionally stopped short of breaking Octothorpe's record.
Then, something odd happened... I developed standards! Suddenly, I was listening to songs as the deadline approached, and realizing they weren't good enough! Weird.
I might be in "Cute Boots," but I won't know for sure until tomorrow night. If I don't have most of the recording done by then, I won't be in at all.

checking...nope...no standards here. this site gets me to finish songs and let go of them instead of half writing things, never finishing them, and constantly listing long lists of songs that were never finished, and waxing nostalgic about getting back to them someday. personally, i'd rather have a song locked down, recorded and out the door instead of another if-only-half-song. i've never promised quality, rarely has it been present in the fights i've listened to, and never has it been present in my submissions. i don't listen to the songs here for quality, i listen for the inspiration and inventiveness that comes with working under the deadlines and conditions that this site imposes.Generic wrote:Then, something odd happened... I'm in.
Ever since the X-Files was still on TV, I've always wanted to write a song called "Cigarette Smoking Woman". Never did, but always thought about it.
As I was in the middle of writing "Cute Boots" it hit me, this was more or less what I wanted "Cigarette Smoking Woman" to sound like.
So I made it be both. Genre: psychadelic southern rock disco.

That said, I do believe my songs have improved in quality since my first fight. Not necessarily improving in every fight, but improving on average over the course of months and years. The Weakest Suit wrote: i've never promised quality, rarely has it been present in the fights i've listened to, and never has it been present in my submissions. i don't listen to the songs here for quality, i listen for the inspiration and inventiveness that comes with working under the deadlines and conditions that this site imposes.
My songwriting skills will probably remain on the same plateau they've been on for over a decade, as will my guitar chops. But if I didn't think I was gradually improving in terms of overall sound quality, I'd probably find a different hobby.
