Haha, thanks Frank.

On a side note, I ended up writing a little ditty for this one (not out of guilt, mind you). It's an exercise in flexing my immunity - lofi and autotuned - and it probably wouldn't make it past next round without immunity. But that's the point. See you guys next round. :)

I've got something, but it's not a good something, and listening to it gives me enough of a headache that I'm out. Was fun while it lasted. Good luck all!

You're gonna let a headache stand between you & Nur Ein glory?
You would rather go out quietly than go out fighting?

Put me down for 10am Saturday morning.
Missed by 23 hours and 36 minutes. Damn.

...but I am in - 45 minutes early!!

And every week is "bring a guest" week in Harpoonerville - this week I have benefitted greatly from the wonderful vocalising and harmonicising talents of Mr Rabid Garfunkel (including some amazing "theatre-of-the-mind" action).

Minty, you're a schmuck.

Ranger Den, sorry to see you go. Try to do a Songfight sometime! You have usually about twice as long, and the competition isn't *quite* as fierce.

So. Another deadline has passed. Has anyone other than Ranger Den dropped out? If not, that's ten songs (including the immune Therman entry). How many eliminations?

I think the thing I'm bummed most about this mix is that the distortion affect on the "not in this lifetime" obscure them a tad too much. I don't mind that they're a little inaudible, especially since the listener could ascertain what's being said from the title. But I would have liked to make them clear enough to invite sing-along. As it is, I think the listener is alienated from the chorus. I probably shouldn't be trashing my own song in front of the judges, but I guess I don't want it to seem like I'm clueless about the weak points of my own recording. I'm probably going to mix it over again tomorrow just for my own listening pleasure.

All the tunes sound really great this time around. This is really going to be vicious.

Dear Who Fly,

Does your track sound right to you? For me there's this weird pulsing volume and noise drop. Like it didn't render properly or some other technical issue. If this is the intended sound forgive me.

Dear glenny. Yes and no, my mixing was done last second and I was oblivious to just how much compression I was messing with. The sound volume be lowering as much as it does. I had a kick drum sidechained into a compressor (which was on everything) and then I muted the kick. so you still have it triggering the compression but...

Yeah and when I listened to the mix this morning i was all 'motherfuck' but at this point in the competition I can't bitch. I've had enough weeks to not be pissed at my mix and it hasn't happened yet (97 was close, the vocals were horribly mixed) so sigh. the last hour of my mixing was done on laptop speakers WITH A SUBWOOFER ATTACHED ONLY because I desperately had to mix bass. But without my massive subwoofer it all just sounds exactly like you say... an error in processing.

Listen to Toro Y Moi and, though it's not quite what I was shooting for, it's slight vindication?
