Good going, now you've got me singing this title to the tune of "I Believe I Can Fly".

King Arthur has invited the rawk to the prom and hopes that at least if she won't accept, her sister will...

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
Okay. I'm biting the bullet & writing my first song in months for this songfight. I'm not going to have the other boys from WTFBBS with me, but that's just because of how the song is taking shape. If I can, there will a cameo from someone, but if he can't do it, will someone with one of those really smooth "I can make you believe the sky is green" male voices be willing to record a line or two for me? The subject matter for my song is a bit dark, so I'll understand if not.
I just have one last verse to hash out, I think, then hide in my "lab" all weekend to make the backing music. Wish me luck!

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
if i can talk a buddy into coming over and recording a solo, i will be in. it has become apparent that me just winging it is not going to win me any fights... so, i'm going to buckle down and work on this one, and if it's not done in time then it will wait till next fight... with new words, which sucks cause these are pretty good.

There's no shame in finishing a song late, then posting it in the forums so people can hear it and review it. You won't win any fights, of course, but at least it will get heard.BBABM wrote:if i can talk a buddy into coming over and recording a solo, i will be in. it has become apparent that me just winging it is not going to win me any fights... so, i'm going to buckle down and work on this one, and if it's not done in time then it will wait till next fight... with new words, which sucks cause these are pretty good.

Blew my streak at four because I took the last round off (read: have been playing Minecraft nonstop, forgot that time existed) but I've got a kernel of an idea for this one so hopefully I'll get back in the game.

I'd love to be in this one, but friday is the earliest time that I will have my new converter so i can hook my mic and loop pedal into the comp. to record

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
i don't know if i can get my friend over to record the solo... i've recorded a somewhat weak solo myself, but as i am not a lead guitarist, it is actually pretty good for my skill level. i'm gonna mess with it till wednesday, try to shave off like 30 seconds, maybe work a better solo out... and hopefully there will be fewer bleeding ears this week!!!

Had a musical idea which is starting to lead to a lyrical idea too. We'll see.

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
Shipped. There is some ugly pumping on the bus compression and it's still not as loud as Berkeley Social Scene, and the song structure itself isn't quite right, but it's what it is, and I wanna get on with recording my coverfight song, so... there ya go.
I think I actually did manage to bring the rawk, didn't have to resort to inviting her little sister, but, ya know... you tell me

Got an idea for the music. Now to say something lyrically, always a challenge for me.

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
Song is written, music track is sequenced, lyrics are written and recorded, rough mix is done, so at the very least I already have a demo track that's ready for submission. I will of course work on making it better over the next few days, I hope.

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
I had a song, but it's terrible and I won't ruin my respectable discography by sharing it with all of you. You're welcome.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
Looks like I'm going to have to bow out this week. I managed to get the backing track semi done, but lyrics are definately not panning out for me. That, and we (the person I was hoping to collab with and I) can't seem to get our schedules synced.
Oh well.. Just means that depending on what next week's title is, I might already be to the halfway point on making it

Re: Can you believe it? (pre-fight)
if i don't get called in to work today, i will be in. gotta retool the drum track given a particular review that made a good point from last week. in the past, i've only played my music for personal friends, and they were all like "it's sooo good"... it is refreshing, ego checking, and extremely helpful to hear real, honest constructive criticism. thanks folks
check that... i'm in, the solo is still a little weak, but it's a toe tapper
