Re: 4/19/15 The Doors
Where as in my opinion Springsteen doesn't make good albums, the Doors do. They are really good albums. They are an Los Angeles band, they seem more popular there than the rest of the world. I spent high school and college in the greater Los Angeles, they are very dear to me. I was actually in the Doors movie by Oliver Stone. Sometimes I can see myself for the smallest fraction of a second in the Miami scene (filmed in L.A.)
Love Me two Times was one of those riffs that propelled me to learn how to play guitar. I spent a lot of time with that song.
Yeah Love me Two Times I have to pick. In general I love the long tracks at the end of side 2 on those albums. They are a band that I most like listening to in a binge of 5 albums.
Fantastic band!

Wow, Glen and I agree! "Love Me Two Times" is my favorite, too.
But since he took my pick, I'll go ahead and say "People Are Strange."

Would this have been a better band choice for 4/20? I don't know...
Anyway, not really a fan of The Doors, but "Wish You Were Here" was on while I was driving to work today, so I will say that one.

Okay, two people have already picked "Love Me Two Times", so uh... The Aerosmith cover of that is pretty good, too. I'll go with "Light My Fire". Too easy? How about "Roadhouse Blues". Whatever. I don't often listen to The Doors, but when I do, I love it.

Honorable mention to "Break On Through", "Five To One" and "Peace Frog". My favorite is "Not To Touch The Earth". What an intro. What an ending.

I'd go both of those too.Generic wrote:Wow, Glen and I agree! "Love Me Two Times" is my favorite, too.

And add Break on Through and Peace Frog.
Maybe "Touch Me " would be my favourite though.

That's totally what I meant to say. "Light My Fire" just came out. I love "Break On Through" and merely kind of like "Light My Fire". Brain fart.Niveous wrote:Honorable mention to "Break On Through"

Re: 4/19/15 The Doors
I think you may have mixed up The Doors with Pink Floyd. Though dang it if "Wish You Were Here" wasn't going to be my pick for Pink Floyd whenever that got asked.johndisk0 wrote:Would this have been a better band choice for 4/20? I don't know...

Also, if we were going thematic for 4/20, wouldn't we just want to do Bob Marley, or maybe The Grateful Dead?

Re: 4/19/15 The Doors
"Light My Fire" is my first favorite song I can remember. I just loved the never ending organ solo. Kind of a weird song to like as a little kid, though. While I still love it, I'd probably go for "The End". Jim Morrison has the best scream!

Re: 4/19/15 The Doors
Riders On The Storm.
I've always loved the eeriness of the song and it's gloomy somber feel. The keys and guitar playing off of each other and lyrics are awesome. The line about the "killer on the road, brain squirming like a toad" is about a killer back then that was going across the country hitchhiking and killing along the way. "If ya give this man a ride, sweet family will die". I always thought it was sweet memory will die. But it was referring to the family this spree killer murdered.

"Alabama Song", though that's a cover. "The End", of course, that one too. And I also love "The Crystal Ship", which no one has mentioned yet.
