When Radiohead covered Union City Blue it was amazing.

Heart of Glass is my favorie Blondie song. It's not a contest for me. Despite it's stupid lyrics, the production is just amazing.

Blondie is a disappointing band to me. These days you can dig into all the deep tracks on all of an artists albums. I love the Blondie singles, but I was terribly disappointed with the depth of the albums. They don't make good albums in my opinion.

Pat Benatar on the other hand makes great albums.

I love Heart of Glass so much.

I wrote a blog post about it if you're interested.

Is the Erik who offered you that music theory correction on "Heart of Glass" the same as the creative force behind à tous les monsieurs?

Even though it's a cover, I've always liked "the tide is high". The original was by a somewhat unknown Jamaican band called The Paragons and we may have never heard it if Blondie didn't cover it. And Atomic Kittens may have never covered it if Blondie didn't.

I know all of this because we had a Blondie side fight here at the mighty Song Fight and I did a collaboration with AntiM (lead vox) and Steve Durand (horns) and we covered The Tide Is High. I recall doing good with the votes. I'd link it, but I don't know where that song lives/died.

Dreaming is up there for me as well.

Blondie does enjoy a good cover of a less known band. For instance:

That's pretty cool. I had to read up on them a bit, because I've heard of them from something else. The Nerves had a short band career, but did a lot of other music related things individually. "They were the founding vanguard of the Los Angeles punk and pop scenes that eventually produced The Knack, The Beat and The Plimsouls"

This song gets all of the win. Of course, the Sifl and Olly version is just as good, too.

I was aware of exactly 2 Blondie songs until yesterday: "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass", which, meh. "The Tide is High" is my new favorite.

I have a love hate relationship with Blondie. I love Debbie Harry. I hate Chris Stein.

Honorable mention to "One Way or Another", "Call Me" and "Maria".

My favorite is Hanging On The Telephone

Heart of Glass. Definitely. There are others I like but that blows me away each time I hear it.

I could wax lyrical about the genius of this couplet -

"Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind"

Could do but won't. You'll be glad to hear.
