OK, not sure if this can be popped to the top of this thread?

In any case, I'll update this post with the latest and greatest informations. I think we need to get a handle on what gear we'll actually need for Friday night, since that's likely to mostly be acoustic. If folks could discuss, that would be helpful.

Other gear providers, if you could weigh in on the hazy bits here? Please also let me know if there is some thing or other that you desperately need for your set not listed here. I will endeavor to procure it.*

The Glennny Family Jam is an electric experience.

We will need at least 3 vocal mics and PA
Guitar amplifier
bass amplifier
full drum kit

thanks!

A coupla correx (so far) on the list: Spud's bringing his tasty keyboard & amp; and unless someone's got a burning need to make with the spooky whoo-ee-oo noises, the theremin's staying home (I love it, but it's more trouble than it's worth more often than not).

Still wrangling for the bass rig; Spud, is there room in your ride left for yet more gear?

My electric rig this show's a Burns Steer, think Telecaster but uglier for the sound profile ;-) and a Vox modeling amp.

Spud's also the one who's transporting my cello. (Which is an electric, rather than acoustic, and is pretty compact.)

I have a surprisingly good micro-amp that I can probably fit into my luggage. It'll do as a spare guitar or bass amp in a pinch, although it'll still need to be miced or something. Also we can probably go direct on a bunch of instruments, especially Saturday since it sounds like we have 15 channels on the mixer.

BSS has two electric guitar players. If there is any way we could have two guitar amps available on Saturday night that would be great. (I think glennny will probably bring his own electric guitar so we'd just need to use one house electric guitar.)

OK, word. I've made the changes. I think it's wise to leave the Theremin home. (If people really need OO-EE-OO space noises, I can bring out the saw.)

So, as I understand it, we still need an additional Electric guitar amp and Bass amp?

EDIT: fluffy, if you actually have the room, I would go ahead and schlep your miniamp, or else try to wheedle additional carriage from the Spudster. (Sadly, we here in P-town are not gear rich!)

Thanks, guys!

Edit 2: Could you electrified types let me know which of these would be an acceptable model in case I have to rent a stuff?

Any single speaker combo amp would be good for the bass, such as the Ampeg BA115 Combo, Ampeg Rocket Bass combo, or the SWR Workingman 12. A 15" speaker (like in the Ampegs) is slightly preferable over a 12" speaker (like in the SWR) but if there are budgetary considerations then the 12 would probably be fine.

For the guitar amp, again a combo amp is probably good enough, something like the Fender Deluxe Reverb Combo. We only really need one speaker, preferably a 12". Tube is preferable over solid state if that isn't a budgetary issue. If it's a tube amp, it probably won't need to be more than 22watts, if solid state it should probably be 80-100watts.

I'm happy to at least pitch in or possibly cover the rental cost for the guitar amp. Feel free to PM me if you get quotes.

Also, I don't know if we added it to the "hosting Song Fight! Live" info page but it's definitely OK to take up a collection at the event to help defray the costs of hosting. :)

Does this keyboard have a decent electric piano sound? We need that for both Ken's SBDnS and BSS.

There is the honest-to- goodness piano available on Saturday. I imagine Spud's keys are better than the ancient wee-keyed Yamaha!

We'd like to have something that has a sound like a Fender Rhodes electric piano though, so if Spud's keyboard has that we'd prefer that over the real piano. This is the BSS song we're playing that we would like it for:

I assume that Spud's bringing his Casio PS-20, which does indeed have a pretty decent electric piano patch. Or he might be bringing my Casio PX-300, which has the exact same pretty decent electric piano patch (and is easier to set up and load out and so on, being a more traditional stage piano). But it's also possible he might be bringing one of his other keyboards. Maybe you should ask Spud.

(He doesn't really read the forums very much these days.)

Spud says it's the Is It Cold piano. (Which would be the PS-20.)

Hey Rabid, do you have specific details about the electric guitar and amp you're bringing? Are you bringing any pedals? Does the amp have a distortion channel and a way to switch channels?

I could maybe ask glennny to bring along my small pedal board which has volume/wah, two distortions, delay, and reverb.

Also, is anybody yet planning to bring music stands? Most of us will be reading lyrics and/or charts so it's really helpful to have a few music stands if possible. If that's not something the locals can provide I can maybe ask glennny to bring along a couple of ours too.

The two *guitar* amps: Vox Valvetronix VT50 1x12 (ton of models, but the two channels shortcutted/footswitchable are reverby AC30 and Fender Twin with a little distortion); and also this Marshall (borrowed from a friend, for the shows) on top of a 4x12. Overkill, but needs must...

The guitar: Burns Steer

I'll have a baby board there with tuner & tremolo, at least.

Stands? Bring 'em if you've got 'em ;-)

Great, thanks. A Marshall half-stack, wow. Hopefully folks will not be getting deafened all night by that. I've never played through a half-stack. Is it possible to play them at a volume level comparable to a 1x12 combo amp...?
