Seinfeld
I just thought it was necessary to start a thread honoring the best sitcom, if not the best show, of all time. Man, it's good. If you don't like it...what the hell?

i'd argue the simpsons to be the greatest comedy tv show of all time. just ahead of seinfeld.
i just love all the peripheral characters, like neuman. and putty. and george's parents. but as a central cast, the big 4 of seinfeld had arguably the best chemistry of any show on tv.
just my opinion. i love seinfeld.

I liked Seinfeld, but it does suffer from the sitcom disease, that is, everybody always sniping at each other. All that nastiness grates on me. Simpsons, though, is awesome.

Maybe this should be a new thread - but IMHO:
TOP 5 SITCOMS OF ALL-TIME:
1. Blackadder
2. Fawlty Towers
3. The Simpsons
4. Seinfeld
5. Get Smart
(just out of the top 5: Red Dwarf and South Park)

I read that Seinfeld was the only sitcom on TV where the actors memorized all their lines. It helped the timing and the physical humor work better. I think that's testament to how devoted they were to making the show work, and to making the funny parts funny.
Curb Your Enthusiasm works also, and is a real window into the humor of Larry David. After seeing CYE a few times you can really understand the kind of mind that Seinfeld sprang from.

there was this special on seinfeld the other day. i watched it with my parents. it was a whole lot of fun...
they talked about how the show got started, finding the actors, all that sort of thing.
i don't know what it was called, but if you like the show i recommend checking it out. search your listings.

yea we always set down and watched seinfeld... it was deffinately a great show...
i don't know if it would be my favorite of all time... but it would be up there...
it was just cool how they could use a topic like double dipping... as the main plot haha

Re: Seinfeld
i just want to acknowledge once again perhaps the greatest TV show of all time for no other reason than the fact that it brings a few moments of laughter and joy into my tired and weary heart and soul.
get home after long day of work. crack a beer. the frogger episode.

Re: Seinfeld
Yes - I still love Seinfeld.
My Seinfeld DVDs are keeping me sane here in NZ - the land that television forgot. (...almost - there is one awesome NZ sitcom - Jacquie Brown
but I bought Curb Your Enthusiasm DVD - I had never seen the show, but I thought Hey - It must be good!
It isn't
Larry David annoys the hell out of me. Love George Costanza - hate Larry David. I know they are basically the same person - but I don't find Larry David funny.
It has got a lot of funny bits - but I really hate Larry David
Still - it is great to see an American sitcom with unlikeable characters and no hugs at the end - so, I'll still give it half a thumbs up, just for that.

Re: Seinfeld
Yep, I watch it damn near every night. I start with Comedy Central, then when they repeat John Stewart, etc, I switch to Seinfeld. It's one show that I never get tired of seeing repeats.
