These songs are probably good as far as the band, but that beautiful Stevie Nicks is why I started listening, and she does a song by herself called Edge of Seventeen that's better than any of the stuff by the band!

"Tusk" was a moderately close second for me. I think it's the bass solo and subsequent buildup at the end of "The Chain" that pushes it over the top.

...and now I want to listen to Rumours again. Followed by Tusk.

Gold Dust Woman

So much talent in the band. Lindsey Buckingham is an incredible guitar player. So much finesse and soul. His Travis picking style is crazy. I remember the day I decided I was going to learn how to play "big love". On that day I realized for the first time that it IS possible to bite off more than you can chew. Me playing big love sounds like a 6 key piano falling down a flight of stairs.

But Dylan and The Beatles don't?
They're not Classic Rock, generally. Some Beatles songs probably qualify-- Hey Jude and Let it Be are most likely violations of the moratorium, it's true. Actually, as I sit here and think about them, I get the same feeling about a lot of their songs as I do the mass of songs that caused me to initiate the moratorium in the first place.

For Dylan, it's just a couple songs that are violations. "Like a Rolling Stone" is a violation for example. "Hey Mr. Tambourine Man" and "All Along the Watchtower" and "That Song With The Word Cards" that I can't remember the name of.

The reason for the moratorium isn't that I hate Classic Rock, it's that I never need to hear those songs again. There's so much to listen to that's new and great (or even mediocre like a lot of Classic Rock) that I want to spend my available airtime on the planet hearing new stuff.

In other words, "Dust In The Wind" can fuck off and die.

I'm not sure what my favorite song of theirs is, but I'm taking Erin to see them next week, for her birthday.
